Recently bought a Royal Mint UK 2018 gold half proof sovereign. Quite a special coin that went through the "Trial of the Pyx", a process that has been carried out each year since the 13th Century to ensure that Royal Mint coins meet certain standards (eg gold content, size etc). Its great to have this beautiful half sovereign that has been part of the Trial of the Pyx.
