Main Forum Rules:
Rule 1. At all times be polite.
This is a forum for civilised discussion. When posting, always try to make sure you are adding value to the conversation. Debate is encouraged, and disagreements will be common. If you don't agree with something that has been posted, you should respond in a logical way, without attacking the intelligence of the poster. Unfriendly, snide or cynical remarks are not welcome. Be polite and courteous at all times.
We do not allow personal attacks of any kind against anyone. Offensive, insulting, profane or vulgar remarks are prohibited, as is telling someone to "get a life" or that they or their comments are "stupid" "Crap" or "Bullshit". Ad hominem attacks are not permitted. Nor is intolerance or hate speech of any kind.
Rule 2. No defamatory comments.
TheSilverForum is not a platform for defamatory posts about any person or company. Nor should it be used for promoting any particular group, agency or party by putting down another one. Although it is acceptable to relay personal experiences about companies in order to help other users, criticism of any organisation or company without good reason is not permitted.
Rule 3. Trading.
Please use the specific Buy, Sell & Trade forum if you wish to sell or trade.
Members are not allowed to sell fake, counterfeit or replica coins on this site anyone doing so will get a warning or be banned.
Please do not use excessive capital letters in trade topics, or emojis. They will be removed. This is in order to keep the sales section pleasing to view and without any topics unfairly attracting more attention than others.
No unsolicited posts in someones trade topic. i.e. If you are not an intended party (e.g. buyer) do not comment.
If you are not a prospective member to a trade please do not post in someone's sales topics.
These sorts of comments add no value to the sale and you are discouraging sellers to list items. If an item is priced too high and doesn't sell, the seller will understand that the item was priced too high. There is no need to comment in their sales topic.
You may think an item is priced too high, this is the sellers choice to choose their asking price, please do not make unwanted posts in the seller's sales topic. It is up to the buyer to decide if the item is being sold at a fair price (they can even make a separate question in the other forum sections to ask what the fair price of such an item would be if they have concerns)
Also, if you notice any mistakes in someones listing or genuinely wish to help the seller, there is no harm to send them a private message.
To sellers: Please report unwanted or related posts in your sales topics and they can be removed and a warning will be issued to the member who posted the unsolicited post.
If someone breaks the rules:
If you think someone has broken a rule, please report it to a moderator. Attacking someone whom you think has broken the rules will only result in you breaking the rules! Every post has a 'Report' link on it in the bottom right hand corner.
If someone breaks the rules they may, at the discretion of forum staff, be awarded one or more warning points. These points are displayed under a users avatar on every post they makePoints will stay on a users account for 90 days before being removed. Once a user has accrued 5 warning points their account may be temporarily suspended for up to 14 days. Any member whose account is suspended 3 times in any 6 month period will be permanently banned.
Please use the search feature before you post.
Please try to use titles which will help people understand the nature of the post. Generic titles like “Help” or “A Quick Question” are to be avoided.
Please don't post in all capital letters. The standard rules of etiquette still apply!
Topics allowed on the forum:
The Silver Forum's main purpose is for discussing all things precious metals related. However there is also a non precious metals forum where members are invited to respectfully discuss and debate a wide range of topics, please respect your fellow members and understand that other members may have different opinions to yours.
We will remove or edit posts we consider to contain personal attacks, break the law and/or are obscene, racist, sexist, ablist, ageist, homophobic, or which include or incite religious hatred or intolerance. Any topics that I deem to be detrimental to the forum and community’s long term survival and growth, will be removed.
The site Administrators decision on all rules is final and binding. The Silver Forum itself does not have to operate within the rules above and can change or amend any of the rules without any notice or announcement. We want the forum to be a nice and enjoyable place, users who we feel continually make targeted comments at another member(s) will be weeded out and terminated. We are all here because we share the same common interest, please use this forum to help one another and to debate without personal comments about other members.

The edit post feature is there to allow members to edit mistakes, and for users to update their trade topics such as when their item(s) has sold, or their price has changed for example. Currently the system allows members to edit their posts up to 21 days from posting. Members are discouraged from removing their posts or editing them completely from their original form hours or days after posting, this is because many members read old topics, and it is a shame if information or part of a conversation is missing. Please think before you post, if you become paranoid and then edit/delete all of your messages it ruins the achieved topics. Please note that after 21days posts will only be removed or edited in very limited situations. To avoid security concerns about something you have posted please do not post any information about your real identity or the location of your precious metals. Photos or information containing information that can be deemed dangerous to your security will be removed at the request of that member, e.g. photos containing photos of the member or of their car registration or property etc, but photos of coins etc will not be removed.

Commercial / Precious Metals Business Related Members. Please Read.
Standard membership for those in the precious metals business, or precious metals related businesses is FREE. However, if you wish to post any links to your website or promote your products or services you will need either Gold Premium Membership or Platinum Premium Membership, this would also give you a licence to list items for sale commercially as well as have a link to your website in your forum signature, we also encourage you to fully disclose your relationship to the business within your forum signature.
Having Gold/Platinum membership does not give you a licence to post spam however, or for excessive self promotion of your businesses. You may wish to discuss advertising opportunities for your business with ChrisSilver. Gold/Platinum membership will however allow you to have a forum signature adverting your company or project and will show beneath every one of your forum posts.
if you market your own products, services, or website(s) without having Gold or Platinum Premium membership your account may be permanently blocked or banned without warning.
If you purchase Gold/Platinum membership and decide not to adhere to the forum rules or etiquette, e.g. spamming, you may get a warning. It is against forum rules for members to use affiliate links on the forum. It is also against the forum rules to suggest to members to private message you so that you can send them an affiliate link or in any other way to exploit the forum by trying to financially gain from linking members to other websites.
Please post carefully as only sensitive information in limited situations will be removed by request. To preserve the archives If you wish to delete your account, the forum will instead disable your account and move it to the 'Deactivated' user group. Your account will not show in the member lists and you will not be able to post any content or login to the forum. You will be unable to re-register on the forum using the same email, username or from the same IP address. In order to reactivate your account in the future you will need to email the site Administrator.
Deletion of Posts and Inactive User Accounts & GDPR
Our policy states that it will not delete posts en masse nor will it delete inactive user accounts. By accessing this community forum, users are opting to submit material or content on to a publicly accessible website. Please refer to the guidelines above in regards to deleting posts.
Controlling your personal information:
We take your privacy and security very seriously. The Admin area of the forum login is encrypted and required 2 factor authentication. Your email address used for registration is not publicly visible.
We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your explicit permission or are required by law to do so.
You may request a copy of any personal information that we hold on you. You may also request that we delete all information that we hold on you should you wish to close your account and no longer be a member of our website. This includes:
- Your name/username
- Email address
- Known IP addresses
- Known devices
Opt in details and customer data
Note that forum posts that you have made will not be deleted but will be assigned to the username “Guest”. Should you have posted any personal information in any forum posts, such as email, name, address etc, we will of course delete these specific posts upon request.
Administrators reserve the right to block or ban users who they believe are in breach of these rules, or if their common sense dictates you should be blocked or banned for any other reason. Remember that The Silver Forum is a community, this is a forum for discussion, please respect all other members. Any abusive or threatening behaviour will strictly not be tolerated and you will be banned for life. Please refer to the main rules at the top of this page.
Please do not excessively use capitals, especially but not explicitly to topic titles. It looks like shouting and detracts from the clean image of the forum. Topic titles with excessive capitals in will be converted to standard sentence case.
Premium membership pricing
Topics created to discuss premium membership pricing will be removed. If you believe premium membership is not good value for money then you do not need to purchase it, creating topics to try to persuade other members not to join or to cancel their premium membership will not be accepted and will be removed. Similarly any topics which I deem to be detrimental to the future success of The Silver Forum will be removed.

Cancelling Premium Membership
Should you wish to cancel your premium membership please private message ChrisSilver, your membership renewal will be cancelled and it will not automatically renew at the next renewal. Note that it is not possible to get a refund, please be aware of your payments as past payments can not and will not be refunded as the services are considered to be used, irrespective if you have been online on the forum or not.
If you wish to cancel your membership for a specific reason please let us know, as we are always looking to improve the forum and the service we offer.

Also note that formatting of posts texts may be edited to keep the forum with a clean design and easy to read for members browsing. e.g. large font sizes and bold text, or bright colours.

Warning point system
Members in breach of any of the rules, or simply any behaviour on the forum that is deemed not to be acceptable or in the spirit of the forum by the discretion of a Moderator may result in warning points been issued against a member. Warning points are official warnings that last on a members account for 365 days after which they are deleted from the members permanent record. If a member collects enough points within a year then consequences are put onto the Members account. In the future I will try to put more up to date information here about the structure of the points etc, but for now just so everyone is aware it works by limits, such as posting or posts being moderated for x amount of hours first, after this a permanent ban against the forum can be issued. In some limited situations a permanent ban can be given without prior warning.
If a multitude of reports from other users indicate that there may be a problem member, we may temporarily suspend this account whilst the administration can look into it and decide if any warning points need to be issued or if a permeant ban is needed.
Premium Members accounts and Spammers
Members who are deemed to be posting spam will be banned. This is irrespective of if they have purchased premium membership or not. Premium Membership fees will not be refunded to those who are deemed to be spamming. The premium membership fees collected will go part way to the associated costs and time needed to deal with such spammers on the forum and as such no refunds will be made even if your account is banned for any reason. Similarly if your account is banned for any other reason your membership fees will not be refunded.
Rules & Guidelines can be updated at anytime, and any new updates will be included in the 'Guidelines' section which is accessible via the top menu, Browse > Guidelines . You should regularly check the rules for any updates, as use of our forum means you have accepted any updates to these rules even if you have not read them.
