Is anyone collecting platinum?

Recommended Posts

What are your take on it?

Right now I only have a 5g bar and 1oz maple for Platinum. Should I get 1oz bar next? Is it worth getting further sucked into Platinum?

I collect mainly silver (multiple bullion & collective (with high relief) coins & bars) and some gold (10g & 1oz bars & 1oz maple).

I am definitely

Its possible to pick it up in Auctions with practically no premiums

Recently won two proof 4 coin sets 1oz to 1/10oz sizes (maples and nobles) at spot.

Where do you bid for the platinum? Are you not wary of fakes? I usually buy from local dealers in my country.

I have always wanted a 1 Oz ounce platinum bar and a palladium one.   Well really a ten ounce one of each.
the entry and exit price spread is just too wide

I wanted a 1oz PAMP fortuna lady platinum bar to complete my collection... since I have the same in silver and gold. Unfortunately the PAMP bar in platinum is sold out everywhere in my country.

I was buying these 1/10oz britannias until the dealer sold out. Just only managed to get six of them.

Always nice to have something different in the stack.

Can you see the microtext? Or are these invisible in the fractional coins?

Yes.. I’ve got far too much platinum! I rate it very highly as an investment at this price. Although I buy most of my platinum in Australia so no tax,  it’s still got a huge upside.

Aaaahhh😉

for 1oz bars, its more like collecting the packagings, like engelhard, agor-heraeus,valcambi, pamp etc

for biggger ones, 100g. half kilo, 50oz, kilos etc, they cost a lot and ugly to look at.

for coins, just like in the past, when metals prices hit all time high, the mints stop producing them completely, eg Pd Emus, some incomplete Lunar Pt etc etc many incomplete series

I have 10 out of 11 Queen's Beasts, two Lunar III, a late Koala, and a 2 oz Koala.

That's enough. Will probably sell the Lunars sooner or later. No new purchases for quite some time to come.

Perth mint platinum Lunars are always a great investment.

I really like the platinum eagle too.

Platinum has a quality that is better than gold and especially silver. Its the weight I think??
I want a palladium coin, but they are just never for sale.

Both are not very liquid thats why I have a lot of money in a 'physical' palladium stock
If i had more money sloshing about then I would buy a few Platinum coins again as I miss the one I did buy.

Surprised this section is dead with platinum/gold ratio at ATH this week. Have been looking for a decent deal for weeks and just managed to get 5 tenth brits for a nice price. Would be stacking platinum exclusively right now if it wasn’t so hard to get.

I bought another 1oz coin a few weeks ago when the spot price fell to about £750, only for it to fall below £700...

Certainly a good time to buy at the moment if you like the stuff.

i've been tempted a few times after getting the mrs engagement ring in platinum and seeing the benefits when i done the research. I think (personally) it is fairly decent priced for what it brings but I am no pro. I also love silver and gold too much so haven't took  the leap yet
