Not a good sign for the Mint that the announcement of any new series now makes me angry, rather than interested.

I can't be the only one.

Youre not the only one

Feels like a bit of a scatter gun opportunity to me - they'll pick and choose what they like, as and when they fancy, a bit like the Great Engravers.

I'd be surprised if they ever commit to a schedule and named designs again.

probably

x40 in 2oz gold in series at £5545 each = just a snip at £221,800 :(

Given they’ve done the Waterloo Medal as a 2-coin set, I’m almost certain they’ll go the same route with the seals.

Imagine an entire series of 2-coin sets. 😟

Let’s hope they have 1oz gold denominations so some of us can pick and choose which ones we want over the years. Honestly who is going to collect 2-coins sets of 2oz gold coins?

From the Royal Mint webpage for this release:

A Great Seal consists of a pair of silver moulds, or matrices, into which designs have been engraved

So there you have it, it’s almost begging to be released as 2-coin sets unfortunately.

If that’s the case, I’ll just sit it out because my OCD will compel me to collect the entire series.

I mean, for me any "series" at the royal mint is one I dont ever want to start again.

Too much risk of it just being cancelled.

I actually quite like the approach of the great engravers collection. Nobody quite knows what the series will hold, all the coins are unique and interesting in their own right. I don't have all of them, I don't want all of them and it doesn't really feel like a series of coins.

If they announce the seals collection will be a defined series with 40 coins and share what and when is being released I am 100% out and won't buy.

If they are billed as standalone nice coins, I could be tempted....but not directly from the mint. Dealers and secondary market for me for the foreseeable future. Will have a better customer buying experience, Quality control and probably cheaper for most coins.

I think some of these could look pretty tasty but only as an as and when type purchase. No more series. Even flogged my two sets of Tudor Beasts at the weekend in case they don’t continue with them either

This is bad , I quite like the idea of these, so would be definitely interested in collecting them,

Trouble is with 40 of them, I now have to factor in petrol for a least 40  journey's to the post office to return for replacement due to quality control, that is going to add a bit of mileage.
