I'm in the Foreign Exchange industry so get to see plenty of world banknotes,  currently accumulating fancy serial number US banknotes which have a large following and mark up. Also with the release of the first book on replacement banknotes there seems to be a growing interest in that now.

I've been watching a few videos recently on this very thing. It's a whole new world with birthday numbers, star notes, radar, quads and repeaters.

If I lived in the states I'd be searching every note that ever passed through my hands.

Yes many different combinations to look for. Solid serial numbers e.g 88888888 which is the most sought after sell for  $3500.00 plus graded , that's a $1 note, crazy money.

The banknote collecting world is a strange thing in general, a newly issued note in Uncirculated condition is worth more than face value to a collector. The new polymer Northern Ireland £10 notes issued this year are selling for £15 wholesale.

Something I do on the side which is often overlooked by people is switching banks. Most offer £100+ plus some form of other perks eg I've just switched to Lloyds and they will give me £125 plus 6 free cinema tickets.

Worth a look for something that takes 15 minutes.

I used to move coke in the waste management business ( Sopranos joke).

I do the odd bit of manual labour work when possible. Painting, gardening, weeding, helping out mates etc. Puts a bit of extra Dosh into my pocket on occasions.

Can also be satisfying when you graft and see the finished product.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who searches bills for fancy serial numbers!  I just posted the other day to the Buy/Sell non PM string... a $20 repeater. 80258025 in average circulated condition.  Wasn't sure how to price it, $100 (or 5 silver eagles in trade) seemed in line with other listings I found on Ebay.  Is it overpriced ?  Underpriced? I've sold $1 star notes and repeaters, but never a $20.  Any help is appreciated!

Hi 1000ozs , I sell a $1 Uncirculated repeater for $30 , an Uncirculated $20 I would expect around $80. I do sell to a dealer so get around 60-70% of their value for quick sales.

If its in line with what you have seen no harm trying at $100. You may get that if you are prepared to wait a while.

Happy searching it can certainly be rewarding

I used to work for a magazine company and each mag would have its own 'sales' of all the stuff they'd be sent as freebies - running shoes, toys, games and the like. The big one for me was makeup. Being a guy I didn't have a clue about any of it, but the first one I went to I picked up a Chanel lipstick for the then missus and asked the girl how much it was - everything was 50p each. I spent about £20 that day, looked it all up online and I had about £500 worth of stuff. The girlfriend got that one lippy and the rest went straight on eBay!
