China 2017 62 g (2 oz) silver lunar rooster panda by Chang Huan, mintage 499

I agree. The best part about this new issue is there are no visible scratches on the antiqued version. In the 2015 and 2016 version, they used a manual process that was too physical, and many of the coins have large scratches that prevent them from earning high grades from NGC. This new 2017 one has NO visible scratches anywhere that I could see. They used an entirely different antiquing process. I expect these ones to get nice grades at NGC and PCGS.

That's what I thought when I first saw photos of the 2015 design. My opinion changed when I saw them in-hand. I have started to appreciate Chang Huan's whimsical style that she likes to do for this series. It's always family oriented, which is very endearing to me.

The style of this Rooster fits in with the 2015 Goat design.  Andy's Rooster fit in more with the 2016 Monkey style.  This Panda doesn't fit in with the other 3 releases.  Still... I like it and have ordered one.

The series started with a folksy design. And then it was continued with a classic version now we have a choice of classic or folksy. Murmurings that there will be a back filled folksy monkey. In my view every one of them is good and the design competition adds interest.

I have ordered both new ones for my collection.
