  • An exclusive 2oz gold coin only is coming out for Mint Marque clients gold tier status and higher, marketed to platinum level first
  • Mintage is just 100
  • and it is in reverse proof set 2oz gold only
  • RRP slightly higher than the standard 2oz gold at £5495

So it is https://www.royalmint.com/shop/monarch/charles-iii/coronation/ounce/the-coronation-of-his-majesty-king-charles-iii-2oz-gold-proof-coin/

in reverse proof

I think this is the one that will do the best for potential profits & desirability

Its no exclusive to RM we have a few available at £5295

strange, i was told by my RM account manager it was exclusive to Mint marque only customers for the "reverse proof" set

Your RRP is cheaper than they said to £5495 from RM

i can only see the standard 2oz on your web site - do you have a like for the "reverse proof" please ?

My apologies, I followed the link and saw it was the standard coin and presumed, no I have not heard of the reverse frosting edition.

I have removed my comment because I did not want it to look like an advert..

I had called £1250+ the other day, so I’m pleased with my prediction. 😊

1431 gbp atm but with 9 days to go. If i wanted it id just go for the ones on sale (lowest is 1750 gbp) rather than bidding for more than a week and probably getting close, or over 1750...

Lionel, i didn't budget for this, didn't even realise it existed until 12 hours ago today, if I had not seen a passing comment from @westminstrel i wouldn't have even brought it up on my phone call to ask about it, i have had my monthly Rm credit account statement and ive been trying to make my payment towards getting the balance down, Online is/was down, call the statement number and  queue queue queue, wait wait wait wait

Popped a message to my RM account manger to arrange a call back to me to sort payment and RING RING

and find out the the info (and shared here)

My "reverse proof" Coronation 2oz gold or whatever it is is arriving Thursday - sight unseen

I will post it in "Today i received" thread  - fingers crossed ive snagged am un expected diamond in the rough :)

Be well, my friend

Thanks Paul, I am eagerly waiting your photos. I have not taken a decision about it as it means again high financial involvment and sacrifices. My AM being not at office until friday, I have some time to think about it, unless he was not able to keep it for me 🙄

Anyway, If I don't have it at the end, I am  happy as I have been lucky to secure a more reasonnable SOTD on  tuesday (incredible as I was in the 40000s in the queue...a  payment done without a glitch has probably done it for me

I don’t think there were 40000 “people” in the queue. I think most people had their computer, laptop, phone, tablet, partners phone all on the website hoping to get a low lottery number on one of the screens.

Indeed it is a rather large chunk of £££ to put down and take a risk on.

My constant fear with such exclusives is that the Royal Mint keeps doing “firsts” which ends up diluting their uniqueness.

I personally feel the Sovereign is the tried and tested coin, guaranteed to give a return on investment, or at least break even. And with special occasions and strikes like the Coronation SotD, it is a bit of a no brainer.

Definitely. The SOTD (for such significant historical events) is part of the historical lineage,  recognized for centuries, and without a doubt, it's a safe bet for any collectors. On the opposite, betting on the potential future value  of "stand alone" commemorative coins, aside from their beautiful design, is way more risky,  especially in a bullish gold price environment that is conducive to buying bullion close to the spot price.

Yes exactly this. The Sovereign has a centuries old heritage, and the Coronation SotD Sovereign, and the upcoming Coronation Proof Sovereign, become part of this tradition.

Every other commemorative coin is secondary. (Not saying they can’t, or won’t, appreciate in value though).

You're right!

I was on since 8:15, yet when 9am came, I was something like 23,000 in the queue. It went down at a crazy rate. Dropping from 12,000-3,000 in seconds.

It left me with the impression that the numbers were like bots. 🤔
