I mentioned this the other day to Roy's comment.  I had a load of silver with BullionVault. I sold it all last year to pay the deposit on the house. It has appreciated by about 55% in the 8-9ish

A £4.80 / Oz low/high this month.

Is that the definition of volatility?

The average daily volatility for BTC in the past few years is roughly 4% although this has lessened in recent months and is now closer to 3% than 4%. Today we're currently +4.65% in silver in USD and +4.29% in GBP

Mind is primary and mass-energy is derivative
