What to do if a holiday is CANCELLED!

Recommended Posts

I would like to know if any other Forum members have already had to "claim" back currency - with respect to a cancelled holiday!

If so -what method do members think is best / most appropriate !

I have/had a trip to Cyprus booked for May 6th ( later @BazzaC 😉 🍻)

I have rung the supplier company (travel agent) this morning, and was advised to sit tight and wait for now,

they had UK government time line of 30th of April ? - CLEARLY this is going to go beyond that IMHO.

I had Comprehensive insurance in place, way before this situation blew up  - "annual insurance"

The Holiday was paid for on Credit card

It is ATOL protected

My question's are - -

1/ do I hit the Credit card first, ATOL, or Insurance ?

2/ Wait until it is cancelled "officially" by the travel agent or Hotel? or instigate actions immediately!

Thanks in advance for any replies - advice.

I would wait for this first. You can then get a refund and try to get compensation from the airline by using this free online tool https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/flight-delays/#resolvertool from Martin Lewis' Website (more info here) usually under EU law you would get compensation, however I am not entirely sure if it works or not given the current situation and it  would also depend on if the airline remains solvent.

My posts are my personal opinions, they do not constitute advice or financial advice.

Hi guys,

2nd  wait, Ryanair do not normally offer a refund on any of their flights.

Had a trip booked the 4th April to the U.K from Cyprus with Ryanair.  Had to wait for Ryanair to notify me via email and sms that the flight was officially canceled before I could even initiate the refund process.

Paid with card as well.

Will point out it took two days to log a refund request on their website (they must be inundated) and only managed to log one when I was given the manual option where I had to complete all the information boxes myself before submitting.

Still waiting for the refund, I think they mentioned 5-7 days to process and approx 5 -7 days for the card company.

There was also the option to reschedule the flight at a later date, but like you mention, and has been mentioned on the forum, can they stay afloat till then ?

Best of luck and not to worry a couple in the fridge awaiting your arrival 😁🍻🌞
