I found this coin on a tray in a box of coins I bought at an auction house. I have been unable to find any info on it and hope someone here might help.

Weight 41g, diameter 38mm, milled edge.

Solid silver

There are some on eBay that will give some info on it. I done a quick search on the net and one description came up as silver plated and labelled as a fantasy coin.

I am pretty sure this is from:

“SPINK 2001 PATINA COLLECTION AUCTION KRAUSE X#M13”

They made a limited run of fantasy coins and this design is one I have seen before in that set. They made both silver proof and CUNI

@ilovesilverireallydo Any links to images or details? Piedfort?

@MickB I think you're correct, the closer I look the more I believe I see minor differences twixt the two. Another one is the shape of the haircut above the forehead. Or am I imagining that?

Also, having re-weighed: 41.9g - so another reason to think it different, unless a 2,5% difference is insignificant (?)

The plot thickens.

The spinks catalogue is hard to find, never got one but then wasn’t too bothered. Should be 1999/2000/2001

There ARE copies of this design made by others, but as far as I know only Spinks did Piedfort
