Hi all, I'm afraid I didn't see the message advising me to say hello on the new members topic, so hello all.

I believe I have a Silver Betel Box by Oomersi Mawji O,M. C1890

It's been repaired and restored (albeit crudely) and is in need of a good clean.

I have read a bit about Oomersi Mawji and his sons and am genuinely amazed at his workmanship, truly stunning.

My piece is in need of being restored to its former glory and I believe it's one from his early works.

The base is of a stained glass/enamel pitted type material but the lid has been restored with what feels like a hard paper mache.

It's approximately 11" high and inside it has a plate with 4 holes but missing containers/ bowls for holding the betel nut/spice.

It weighs approximately 830g and is signed on the base O,M

The top of the lid has a betel nut but is loose.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone who knows about possibly getting it restored and it's worth.

Before I knew that much about it I was going to sell on a well known auction site but had so many offers I decided to come on here to find out more info.
