Here's your reasoning

Central bankers are politicians disguised as economists or bankers. They’re either incompetent or liars. So, either way, you’re never going to get a valid answer.” - Peter Schiff

Sound money is not a guarantee of a free society, but a free society is impossible without sound money. We are currently a society enslaved by debt.

So yet more regulation is pushing things ever more into being over-regulated, is making Pounds and UK banks increasingly non-viable. Easy answer is to adopt another form of 'currency'. The state in its desire to confiscate however is erecting barriers to that, prohibiting retailers to buy or sell without 'know your customer' and other regulations a.k.a report to the state and secure clearance to permit that transaction. Non compliant and the state can 'sanction', fine individuals or confiscate at will.

Requires a return to the old days, when if asked how much you earned or had saved up the reply would be 'none of your business' (its my money, a product of my effort/work, not yours). People are generally lambs however, don't protest or object, just accept repeated declines in their freedom and transition to being a state owned/controlled asset/commodity.

Pound will follow the Dollar, starts to be dumped in favour of alternatives - such as gold. Likely however that will result in yet more regulations being applied to such alternatives. Prohibition however just promotes illicit (black market) activities. Initially good for the price of gold - until the state decides that gold is a prohibited item.
