Don't forget the doctors settling the pay dispute with a huge rise by the end of the month, followed by train drivers and teachers, is not exactly going to push inflation down.

Central bankers are politicians disguised as economists or bankers. They’re either incompetent or liars. So, either way, you’re never going to get a valid answer.” - Peter Schiff

Sound money is not a guarantee of a free society, but a free society is impossible without sound money. We are currently a society enslaved by debt.

It does seem crazy that gold is 240% more expensive than platinum which is 30 times rarer. People are always shocked when I tell them gold is nearly 2.5 x more expensive.

Anyway, this is the gold thread. Reported @HerefordBullyun and reported myself.

People haven’t been using platinum for coins and jewellery for thousands of years🤔🤔😁

Platinum wedding rings will always be a thing. Platinum is stronger and more durable (and possibly more difficult, hence expensive to manufacture) than gold.

Also, memberships (anything from gyms to wine clubs) have various levels; Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum. The OCD in me doesn't like this because it no longer make sense 🙃

Not really. The very high melting point and the impossibility to refine without chemicals was restrictive for ancestors. They used only low purity natural nuggets and grains in jewellery, never in coinage.
