The mintage of the gold set strikes me as being silly low

Extremely low- it’ll also be an extremely expensive set of coins which will sell out quickly no doubt.

I like these designs and would be interested in the Silver Proof set however, I think the mintage is too high.

Interesting that the silver proof set is in same case as the bu-cn set.   The case for the first 50 for 50 set is what made it edit, on the RM website they are in same packaging but when look at gold version they have a picture of the silver coins on the bigger box

Agree with you on this one- but I wonder if on the webpage they might have mistakenly duplicated the images of the bu-cn- the images for the Silver Proof are exactly the same.

I have the option of a gold set from my RM account manager - feels a bit extravagant and not really a fit to my collection.  Could it be worth it as an investment? Views?

If you do buy, make sure the coins are perfect and that the set is not one returned because of any problems with it.

This second set of five 50p pence pieces does not seem to have generated anyway near the excitement of the first set (the Kew Gardens effect?).  It may be that someone bought it in the hope of a quick profitable flip but found that this was not possible and so they decided to return it (I think the Royal Mint does take returns).  Therefore, the real question is whether you could do something better with your money that would enhance your collection.  If you buy it, I think you will end up holding it for the long-term.
