The US sold a huge amount of its silver facilitated by US Assay Commission (formed by the Mint Act of 1792 and continued to function until 1971, when precious metals were no longer used in American circulated coinage. 

The Continental Coin Company of California purchased a great deal of this silver from the U.S. government Treasury reserves. They proceeded to mint 1oz rounds, as well as 10 oz and 100 oz bars in 1981 and the CC in there are their initials. There are a few 1 oz bars but they are more rare.

Only 81. That is the year they bought the stockpile so even later minted ones have same date as far as I know

Another fun fact: 

430 Million Troy (the figures vary from report to report one says 15,000 tons) ounces of silver of this stockpile was borrowed to be used in the Manhattan project to try and enrich Uranium. It was returned after the project shut. 

So chances are some of this silver was in use in the controversial Manhattan project...
