Just checked prices on the usual sites - Atkinsons, Royal Mint Bullion and Bullion by Post

I need to buy the one ounce but the cheapest I can see is still £1,050 - ouch !!
Buy now or wait ? - that's a tough call due to all the volatility from worldwide events right now.

Same here the cheapest I can find is couple of pounds from £1,050 mark and ouch indeed. I am hedging my bets and waiting for the next release after the Yale should be end of the year and am hoping drop in USD gold spot price and appreciation in GBP vs USD and buy both of them at the same time.

You're quibbling over a 5% premium?!

Amateurs! 😂

Sell some of those Harrington and Byrne sovereigns and get it bought :P

I am waiting but only because I spent my beast money on platinum. There's no rush they mint these things for 12 months after release.

Where will gold be in 12 months though. £1500 an ounce knowing my bad luck. :D

Like my local Asda says every penny counts :). I am buying 10x 1oz QB gold coins for each release to complete target stack 100 oz in gold all in QBs premiums over spot and spot price with GBP/USD exchange rate all makes a big difference.

I backdated the collection last year paid on average Lions £1250 / Griffins £1150 / Dragons £1100 / Unicorn  £935 / Bull £935 / Falcon £935. At current spot prices (not taking into account premiums) break even. I am hoping $1360 gold price resistance holds head lower. I will be contacting the European Mint should offer 2% above spot price (obtain custom quote) if you intend on buying a tube of 1oz gold coins.

The next gold bull run has began........ The powers that be will not let £1500 happen under normal circumstances. I am holding out for a lower gold price and stronger pound but it is risk but that what makes PMs interesting.

Only bought nine of them I will need buy another 140 of them and flog them off to Atkinson bullion to bring down the cost to last years Falcon price for quantity that I am after. I don't think there is a boat larger enough to push that far out, wait I found a boat and it is called RMS Titanic....

Do you like the designs, because its the same on the 1 oz as it is on the 1/4 ounce, exactly the same. Do you like the look of the Yale that much it is worth selling your collection for that one coin? What will you do next once you have it?

1. I don't think I will be able to afford to purchase all 5 of the remaining queens beast 1/4 ounce coins to complete the set.

2. It seems that the 1 oz coins appreciate more in value than 4 x 1/4 ounce.

3.  IMHO, the one ounce coins look much better than 1/4 ounce.

4.  A one ounce coin is easier to sell to a dealer without being stung, so that is an additional option over 1/4 ounce.  I know I could sell here too.

5. IMHO, The Yale looks much better than Falcon and bull.

6.  IMHO, I will still have two of the better looking 1/4 ouncers, lion and griffin.

7.  I will gain an extra 1/4 ounce for not too much money.

IMHO I think the full set regardless 1 oz or 1/4 oz Gold bullion will attract higher premium then individuals coins themselves

You don't know the true value of appreciation until you try and sell the coin. It is all good and well for the dealers to set their prices but they have the good fortune of waiting an indefinite amount of time before they sell to a buyer

True but Aishwarya Rai (Bollywood actress and ex Miss world) looks better than my wife does not imply I will try and swap my wife :) with her.

Last thing want you want to do is sell a premium coin to a dealer fastest way to ensure lost most of that premium for that coin

True but 1 oz Gold Rwanda nautical 2017 Santa Maria looks better than all my 1 oz Gold QBs does not mean I will sell them to get this :)

The collection not yet complete three more designs yet to be released. You cannot prejudge won't be a better looking coin down line and end up right back in the same situation

I would try save up for the entire collection in the 1/4 oz gold as already started that collection. Cannot afford you can always delay your purchase until saved for the funds for remaining coins. They Royal mint selling bullion release 1 year in unlimited quantity after release date their is plenty of time.

Is your idea to take punt on the one ounce Yale in the hope it appreciates as the others have done? If so why the Yale. Why not wait for the lion to be released in September.

I would argue the quarter ounce are easier to shift with premiums intact.

The one ounce do look better but it's a hell of an investment now if you want the others, with regards to premium and gold price on them. The quarter are much more achievable and you have already started, not far off.

I had a look through the completed sales on this forum and eBay.

I did see a sale on here of the first four 1/4 ounce queens beasts for £1275.  which is £318.75 each.

I have also seen sale of the lion for £310 inc special delivery.

It seems that the first three 1 oz queens beasts have been selling for nice premiums on here and eBay.

Far above the purchase price when they was released.

Thinking about it now, I assume it is because of the pricing at the royalmintbullion.

They have increased the price of the 1oz coins so much that purchasing 1oz griffin is more expensive than purchasing 4 x 1/4 ounce griffins.

RM - 1oz Griffin £1,397.54

RM - 4 x 1/4 ounce griffins £1,287.72

RM - 1oz Griffin approx. price at release £1000

RM - 4 x 1/4 ounce griffins approx. price at release £1,120

approx. price difference for 1 oz  is £397

approx. price difference for 4 x 1/4 oz is £167

With the recent price action in Gold 1 oz Gold Queens Beast The Yale

https://auragentum.de/1-unze-goldmuenze-queens-beasts-yale-2019

£1012.86 premium 3.44% over spot. Reduce premium to under 3% spot get close £1,000 per coin but I am still waiting and I see five possibilities before I pull trigger to buy Yale / Yale + next release QB.

1) Price gold goes lower to the support trendline and holds move higher from here

2) Break trendline find support lower and price hold move higher from here

3) Price retraces much lower level of support move higher from here

4) Prices break 1160 lows have either much lower prices or establish another pattern for higher prices from here

5) Have either one of the above four options and then price gold moves back to level $1370 and this time round either able to break out of this range and establish next bull run or prices head lower.

I am trying to time my purchase rather than just £/$ cost average (maybe a futile attempt).

Chart below generated free website called https://uk.tradingview.com

Disclaimer nobody can look at a chart and predict where prices will be in the next 3/6/9/12 months I am analysing the probabilities and where potentially to pull the next large physical gold purchase trigger.

Anyone help with what to do with queens beasts?

Sell 3 x 1/4 ounce queens beasts (dragon, unicorn, bull) and add extra to buy the Yale in 1 oz gold.

Continue with 1/4 collection and buy Falcon and Yale?

Keep the 1/4's and buy a decent magnifying glass...lol.

I hav (no e) a Zeiss Einschlaglupe D 36   loupe with 3x, 6x and combined 9x magnification.

It is supposed to be decent.

I seem to be unable to decide between three different strategies: -

1. amount of gold,

2. amount of £.

3. owning beautiful things.

Collecting seems NOT to be a good strategy for obtaining amount of gold.

I seem to be least interested in amount of £.

Who doesn't like beautiful things?

Set collecting...it takes time to find the perfect coin, especially if you're going for graded, cost a lot more but you have satisfaction in having something many other co,lector don't have, like say a full collection of british hammered silver shillings from all the royals since they were produced...or...you grab a few new collections where the next one hasn't been brought out yet and follow them...graded or not...I found the last 12 years of collecting a full set of a certain baseball card most rewarding...you don't have to stash cos everyone else is.
