Lesson learned, tried to buy the book but does not seem to be available in UK

Good luck with the refund, if you  want to borrow the latest book for a month or so drop me a line it will cost you the postage there and back!

Well it seems 11 other people bid on the item, I wouldn't assume that the seller knows they are fake, if they are not his specialist subject he maybe a victim also...Might be worthwhile removing his ebay name until you see how this pans out.

Cheers

Dave

The book is of course a must have, but I don't have it myself. Internet, and of course this forum as the Chinese coin forum are your best friends. I also buy from ebay but always with reputable sellers and with the possibility to return the coins and payment with Paypal, so no worries.  Anyway these Pandas are so interesting and more you know about them, the more you love them :)

Have't read the whole thread but if bought of ebay, RING them up and complain and state you have done tests, ie, weighed them blah blah. Tell them the seller has gone away for a month and you are worried. They'll soon sort you out. Might even ban the seller with luck. Worth a few minutes on the phone. And' you'll get your money back.

Just had a look at his completed listings, looks like he sold the same coins a week earlier!

That does sound suspicious.  But there could be an innocent explanation.  When I was looking around ebay for this item I found a 1990 Panda in a PCGS slab which is for sale currently by someone I think is a member of this forum.  The same coin shows as sold last week (same certificate number anyway).  I assume there was a reserve which was not met

I hope it has a reserve since the current price is only £18 which is probably less than it cost to slab it.

I must stress if you have removed these coins from there protective packaging you have devalued them and I will reject them upon return and send them directly back to you after photographing the damage to there integrity , so I urge you to cancle this claim If you have done so .

2016-2019 is pure bullion

This is what I suspected when looking at the prices going sideways.

Once, I bought Pandas with the idea of flipping them, which it was already an ambitious idea in 2011, but with the newer minting numbers they are giving of the feeling of fancy bullion coins.

Nothing against the coins or the design per se, of course.

Man this guy is setting you up. When I get any coins from ebay that are questionable, I don't email anything to the seller. Once I'm sure they are fakes, I shoot them an email that's less than friendly stating that he's selling counterfeit goods, in your case a coin from a sovereign nation. That usually gets the fire under them to issue a quick refund.

Lesson learned, tried to buy the book but does not seem to be available in UK. Latest message from seller

That’s perfectly fine , it’s a pity you are so suspicious as you are sending back some very nice genuine coins , I’m a reputable seller and all my items are 100% genuine , if you had any problem in the future when selling on it the likes you could have contacted me and I would assist or refund , yet you doubt my assertions, like I said I urge you to use X-ray or micro spectrometer to test for sure to satisfy yourself ,when these coins were minted there were very few fakes, and you will see that fake pandas on the web are of much later dates 2010 plus etc , the common fakes I’m aware of are maple leafs. And dollars 1820 onwards ,

Early Pandas less faked than later ones?  Piffle.  I have fake Pandas dated 1991 to 1995.  They are much easier to spot than the later ones.  I suggest you refer him to this page about fake Pandas to demonstrate that the dates do not prove anything.  The site itself is very useful and would repay a read if you cannot get the book.

@Moocher, if you need help sourcing a copy of the 2017 3rd Edition Gold and Silver Panda Coin Buyers Guide, I can buy it for you and ship out to you at direct cost.   I was able to pick up an autographed copy a few weeks ago. I can order from The PandaCollector site...or the least expensive one I see on EBay is the following...

Sounds like a typical scammer, return it and ignore anything they say.
