Anyone invest in copper bars?

Hi guys just been offered a 500g Gieger Copper bar for £15

I was wondering if anyone invested in copper and if it was worth while.

The current spot price of copper is $6277 per tonne* = £4929 per tonne = £4.93 per kg = £2.47 per 500g

Copper rounds come in some interesting designs and are cool to have but a ~500% markup for a 500g bar is a bit too much for me. YMMV etc etc

yeah i think copper pennies make more sense, i sell them for about £6kg per 1000 grams + postage

The one offered to you is cheaper than this one here. It's worth it just for your collection as a one off but not worth it if you're thinking of regular purchases at these prices.

I've a few copper bars just for having on display but I don't buy copper that often as the mark up is a bit steep.

I don't think you can call copper bars an investment as the spot price would need to rise drastically to ever see profit, they are cheap in comparison to gold and silver however so I don't blame anybody for getting one massive copper bullion bar just to stick on their desk to fondle and remind then why they want this kind of weight in a precious metal rather than a base metal.

Very pretty but consensus is they're unlikely to massive appreciate in value and premiums seem high - probably because they're not considered as investments but more ornamental. 

I have a few small rounds and bars and think they're very pretty. I even like the smell of copper! :-S
