I received this today from an auction over the weekend & thought I would show it off.

The lustre is fantastic & details pretty good for 1 of these coins.

I am going to get it conserved & graded so what do you all think. Only a slight slight scratch look on the face near the ear but not deep or very noticeable to the eye.

Looks great for 201 years old!

Are you going to sell it on the forum once graded?

That's a beautiful coin. Well done with the auction. It should receive a good grade.

i wonder what it was used to buy in its life as a circulating coin.

Always cast your vote - Spoil your ballot slip. Put 'Spoilt Ballot - I do not consent.' These votes are counted. If you do not do this you are consenting to the tyranny. None of them are fit for purpose.
A tyranny relies on propaganda and force. Once the propaganda fails all that's left is force.

Indeed.

After all, no young head for at least another 20 years.

What a gorgeous coin. the luster is fantastic. I don't know what you payed for it but it looks better than the expensive 1817s I've seen so far.

I paid £900 for it so no idea whether thats good or not. I suppose it all depends on how it grades, I have no knowledge of grading raw but if it gets a ms62 or higher I will be happy.

Nice coins :) I can probably see why they gave a details grade on the 1822 but on another day it may have been straight graded.

No idea what mine holds to be fair, lustre great, details nice, only slight problem is a tiny surface scratch near ear but only visable in certain lights or pretty close up.
