True.

Then you needed two £1 notes? 🤣

I'd say £3 pint is cheap.

Aren't 10 fags about £4 now?

Websters....a nice pint I remember.

When driving was fun.

That would have been a nice, if long, drive back to Scotland?

First time I really drove in UK was Bruggen to Zeebrugge (or Ostend), to Dover, to Lanarkshire.  Never done a UK roundabout before, two young kids in the back and bad weather, about 12 hrs just on UK side.  Wouldn't even consider doing it now.

Yes, and good ale too, Helmsley Brewery.

Roy, you can’t even buy 10 fags anymore!

I remember when a 20 pack got over a £1 and Rothmans and a few others started selling 14’s! Kept the children happy!

I said I'd stop driving at £2 a gallon 🙁

So how much are 20 fags now?

You don't even get the Embassy coupons anymore. 10 thousand fags and two permanently damaged lungs were all you needed to get a new duvet cover.

Remember sitting with my dad counting up all his kensitas club coupons, then twice a year would head to glasgow,to swap them for a set of pots,or something. Also remember ice-cream van at school gates, where you could buy a single fag. 😂

My old man owned a city centre newsagents in the 70’s into the 80’s, he used to swap the coupons with his customers in exchange as part payment to pay their burgeoning paper bills...I remember him counting them out every week and after about a year he’d buy the star attraction out of the Embassy Catalogue with the proceeds...He once got a full camping set Frame tent cooker etc etc.

I never understood him getting the water skis though...

Hotel I worked in had a fag machine, fruit machine and staff bar in the basement. Started working there at 14, no wonder I'm skint.

Lucky your still alive.😄

I had to make a few adjustments in my twenties, then again in my thirties/forties (minor relapse).  Don't smoke or gamble now but take away the beer?  May as well just shoot me.
