1978 model, engine had 5K km on it, cost me DM 100 in around 1987 (sold for about DM 3,500), only about 120 bhp  think but acceleration was great.  Not too clever on corners, that was before limited slip diffs, and got through the exhaust system pretty quick.  But it had character.

Oh, I miss those terribly.

Do you remember your first ATM card? I seem to recall 1980/82?

I used to store mine in the passenger sun visor in the Capri 😎

First ATM advertised in the UK, by comedy actor Reg Varney, Barclays Bank, Enfield, Middlesex in the 1960s.  My home town...

Nice motor, bet you wish you owned it now, probably gone up in  much more value than holding any Silver...

No pic, but my first car, the Daytona Yellow Cortina had a quirk, I could only put £3.82 in petrol in it from the orange warning light...anymore it slurred out onto the road from the hole in the tank, happy days!

I did towards the end of the tour (well two years old or so) but flogged it and came home with an old Cavalier.  Germany had a great second hand market for picking up cars and doing them up.

My mate bought a brand new tax-free Austin Montego- why on earth I will never know, it was a right Friday afternoon at the factory car, hardly had any paint on it, and had an unidentifiable rattle on the inside. After a few months, he took the trim off the door, there was the rattle...an empty Hofmeister Lager can...follow the bear!

The UK led the world in car building!
