Another Grading Q

Mike

Recommended Posts

I've been reading the various threads on grading, one of the many new things I have developed an awareness of thanks to this site.

My question is, what coins should one get graded? - Could this be any proof (e.g. sovereign), or is it coins that are rarer in nature and the grading gives them a 'Quality' certification? Or is it something else entirely?

Generally a coin needs to have a value over £100 to be worth considering but many have reasons to grade cheaper coins.

Grading does not always add value but does add authentication and condition assurance.

Coins are usually more expensive if graded so there may be fewer buyers since buyers often want risk and a bargain.

Proof coins are excellent for grading as they are VERY easily damaged and the slab is protective.
