Help with provenance of a silver/ enamel cigarette holder

Hello all

I'm wondering if someone could please help me identify the provenance of this 935 silver cigarette holder - I believe it is guilloche enamel and a bakelite mouthpiece.  the mouthpiece and the silver stem unscrew - I imagine for cleaning/ replacement at the time.

I've attached some pics - sorry, I do need to clean the silver; it's been sitting in a jewellery box for eons.

I'm curious about the hallmark - 935 USUS - Is this duplicate mark 'US'?

And any idea of age?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Em

Well Estonia made 935 silver, it could also denote the year 1935 on some items, USUS I think was a German firm and is still going, they made cigarette holders, smoking supplies like filters, posh pens/biros, cutthroat razors etc.

I did a quick search for the 935 hallmark.  Turns out this was a known silver standard for a few years before it was discontinued by the trade in the early 20th century.  That story is here: http://www.vintagewatchstraps.com/blogthreebears.php

Found another one sponsored by the Silver Forum -- this defines all the different fineness of silver alloys.

I couldn't find anything specific to the cigarette holder.  Thanks from Scotty at CoinFinders

@sovereignsteve, people buy it now, not poach it ?

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.
