Queen's Beast scratched, what would you do?

So I just retrieved 19 ounces of silver in the mailbox yesterday and sadly all of the 2 oz queen beast coins have scratches on them  (4 in total).

I also retrieved a 10 oz Kookaburra which came in a capsule, it has those tiny little dots on it, not sure if that is normal or not?

The only coin of this order that came in perfect condition was a Britannia Oriental Border(what an awesome looking coin )
It came in a capsule though, so no surprise there 

What would you do in this situation, just keep them or demand a free (meaning they pay for shipping expenses) replacement?

Seller is a very popular german site, but I don't want to call them out before they've had a chance to resolve the problem.

It seems like I am always unlucky with individual coins that don't come in capsules.

It would be unusual for the Queens Beasts not to be scratched on the queen's neck or cheak. The ones that aren't get graded and go for a high premium. You are rather lucky that they aren't milk spotted (yet). 

I think @kimchi is the Kooks admirer and they are usually much better quality.  

Even if the oriental border looks fine, you will probably find bits of frosting missing and little dings on the rim or coin surface on closer inspection. 

So expect for the Kookaburra, this is unfortunately Royal Mint bullion standard.

Yeah it sucks! I love the Royal Mint designs, but the quality is horrendous. It's like a double edged sword

I didn't look at the Oriental Borders under a loupe before storage so @augur could well be right, but my ones were much better than the usual Brits, no obvious major issues. The same for my other capsuled Brits like the anniversary. The Mint do seem to put more quality onto these. Other premium coin releases in capsules from other mints recently have been poor quality.

I'm not the expert, but an admirer indeed (1ozs)! The Kooks should in theory be almost perfect. I've only seen ever seen one with a milk spot (on a video on here). That also happened to be a 10oz from a popular German site (in terms of prices and selection ). The thing is I expect you paid close to bullion price for that too. I'm not sure if there is much comeback there (?).

I've been tempted by a 10oz Kook before from that company at the prices they offer, but glad I never took the plunge. Tbh I've had too much bad bullion from them to use them again, that seems to be what they 'specialise' in. I'll probably use the European Mint now as I had better stuff from them via BYB's group order and they'll price match if you ask nicely and mention his name.

On the other hand I have heard of an already spotted capsuled Emu from Perth which in theory should be Kook quality. So maybe Perth is going downhill (?) But! I believe that coin too came from the popular German company also which leads me to wonder if they are the cheapest because they have a deal with the mint(s) to accept bad batches and/or whether their storage and handling has major issues (?).

I actually paid quite a bit over spot for the 10 Oz Koobakura (175 euro, probably paid 10 euro too much?) and that was before the recent spike in the silver price. So I'm not sure if we are referring to the same site

It does not have milk spots, but these tiny little dots on the other layer. Not really sure what it is. It seems like the capsule is way too big, as it rattles in it, not sure if intended?

You need someone who's into 10oz Kooks as I don't know about the capsules or if the quality is generally worse than the 1oz. I have hundreds of those (blimey just realised, I do like my Kooks eh? ) and never seen a bad one yet.

I'm a Panda fan too and all my Pandas have been close to perfect. I was shocked to see one with a tiny bit of frosting missing once, but I guess it does happen. Mind you there's one on this site for sale at the moment with a slight blemish, I think that came from the same popular German dealer I was talking about.

I'll give the seller a few days to answer my e-mail enquire and if they refuse to help I'll let you know who it is. I think that's the most fair thing!

I've never had to return any premium silver bullion. The dud coins I've had I feel were fairly representative of the quality of the issue in general imo (though I'd be less than happy if my Emu spots!) so I have just taken those bad coins on the chin. The beasts would fall into that category for me. A Kook I'd be disappointed with.

Hopefully folk who know will chime in on replacements for these kinds of coins

Hey Kimchi. I took some pictures of the Kookaburra, also included a picture of one of the Queen's Beast, which came with the worst milk spots I've ever seen on a new coin.

Are those little dots on the Kookaburra normal, milkspots, or something else?

I've had far worse Brits than that myself

Could it be dust on the Kook? I don't think the cap should be loose so maybe it was replaced (?) Do you have an air puffer to try on the Kook to see if it's dust that shifts? (Don't blow on it, you'll get moisture on it!)

It's not dust, I looked. Those little dots are on the coin, sadly  and yeah the capsule is very loose. Sucks.

Strange, definitely shouldn't be like that on a Kook. Sometimes tiny specks of dust can look like they are on the coin so worth trying a puffer, and there are other places where it looks dusty to me, but you seem sure. Did you explain that and the capsule to the company? Any luck with them yet?

@augur and @swAgger (among others) are very knowledgeable about minting defects, maybe one of those fine folk can help out (?)
