Just ordered 10 x 2018 Sovereigns from Atkinsons based on the good feedback from here. I would be surprised if these arrive in rough condition but I'm manly interested in the bullion.

I was watching the price edging up all day and got itchy fingers...

This will be my first gold order in over 10 years so pretty excited to get the delivery. :)

I got four 2017s from them about six months ago, and they came through lovely and good as new (which they were!) :)

Atkinsons customer relations are second to none

By phone, yes!  But they tend not to reply to emails, at least not very quickly.

Attkinsons have always been good with my orders. Whenever I need to ask them something they always reply. You'll be ok just explain about your situation and I'm sure they will help you.

Me to.

I recently ordered 2 best value sovs ( which is lucky dip really )and requested 2 specific years, they took the time to check stock and send me 1 of the 2 i asked for the 2nd was not in stock. They emailed to tell me what they had found and if it was ok. I cant fault them.

OK,they asked me to send some photos with the coin. They sent a special delivery with a special delivery bag inside for me to send the coin back to them, very impressive. They phoned me and told me that the coin I have is the best condition they have on stock and if I would like a refund.I have just received my money back.I will buy from them in the future but not before I see some photos,if that`s OK with them .

Thank you all for your support/advice/help/thought.

I'd be rather surprised if you weren't on a 'buyer blacklist' after this

They are not the only bullion dealer in the World :ph34r::rolleyes::ph34r:

Sometimes it`s not just about quantity but the quality that matters.

It was my choice to buy from them

Requesting a photo from bullion dealers selling at ~3% over spot  ???
Good luck !

In my early days, still on the learning cusp of stacking, I ordered a tube of Canadian Wildlife silver coins ( 25 in the tube ) from a UK coin seller.
This supplier doesn't get a mention on this forum probably because no-one "experienced" buys from them but they do have a wide selection of coins nevertheless just not competitively priced. At the time we didn't have the wide choice of suppliers that we have today so people did buy their coins and I was one of them.

When I opened my pristine new tube of coins I was shocked that at least half of them were in the worst "milky stained" condition I have ever seen.
Not just a few spots but perhaps 60% of the surface of each coin.

Naturally I complained and spoke with the owner of the business.
His answer was that he was far to busy to open a tube and quickly check condition - whilst still advertising single coins for sale.
No offer to swap or return.
It takes about 60 seconds to flip through a tube of coins to glance over their condition.
These were brand new mint sealed so you are not inspecting them, just checking if there are any really badly stained coins - which in my case there were lots.

As a result of this Company's attitude it was the last order I ever placed with them and I don't even look at their website any longer.
That's what I call poor customer service and lack of business acumen.

Someone told me they do.

I presume Krugerrands and Queen Beasts are not scarce in UK.

My next purchase will be 1 oz Queen Beast and I aim for MS67-68.

Some bullion dealers send cra* to their customers deliberately at very high premiums.I go mad when they tell me it`s just bullion.Even if its just bullion it should meet some standards and the description.

My customer experience with Atkison is Ok. I read only good reviews about them and I had high expectations.I was very excited as the Buffalo was my first gold coin and on my high priority list but I did not know it`s scarce in UK.I like the buffalo so much to the point I was thinking to buy a sealed full tube just to find one as I wanted.Never found silver coins with problems in sealed rolls but always if I buy loose.

Nobody would buy coins badly stained, scratched or with milk  spots and my opinion is that every bullion dealer should accept a replacement and send the ones with problems to the mint they bought from.

Sometimes I think they keep the best grades to sell them later at high premiums.

I've always felt the (it's just bullion) is alittle bulls*** when you have massive premiums on most things. As you are paying for what coin it is,and what little picture it has on the front :) rather then spot or +3% over that for the bullion metal.

I can see why people get mad sometimes :P

Yes,why they don`t just sell everything at the same price/premium then? If it`s just bullion

take the Landmarks of Britain coins atm, selling for like £35,£29 without vat on some sites.that's a premium you are paying for the pic on the coin.

So in my eyes its not bullion as you've slapped premiums on it.and should atleast follow their own standards and descriptions.

Isn't it annoying when a coin dealer tries to make a profit?

Forget the cost of premises, insurance, websites and staff...how rude I say! :(
