Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Those reverse proof libertad's are beautiful, I wouldn't mind seeing a few more UK coins being released with that type of finish!

I don't remember seeing any reverse proofs with an ultra cameo/deep cameo designation either. You'd imagine it would still apply to the design even if it's a mirror finish instead of a frosted finish.

Maybe the grading of reverse proofs are still a work in progress for the grading companies at the moment.

They truly are thing of beauty. I have developed quite an obsession with them. Yes I would also love to see more UK coins with this finish although It would take somthing special to come close to the libertads in my opion.

Still confused with the PL and PF designation however. Maybe the NGC only acknowledged them as a proof coin 2018 onwards 🤷🏻‍♂️

2016 Last Round Silver Piedfort Pound

I consider a catastrophe of cataclysmic proportions that this beautiful design was barely in general circulation before we were subjected to the dodecagonal coup with its repetitiously hideous usurper.

The reverse features the four heraldic beasts, as produced by the Royal Mint in the 2003 Pattern Set. The coin is divided into four sectors, showing the lion of England, the unicorn of Scotland, the stag of Northern Ireland and the dragon of Wales. The Imperial Crown of Saint Edward is depicted centrally with the initials of designer Bishop Gregory Kenneth Cameron in the field below the Welsh dragon.

This chunky fellow had a mintage of 3,449. Despite absurd claims by one mendacious member, the coin is unavailable at close to spot.

Having managed to get my order confirmed for the US version of this set, I shut my eyes, pretended 'cost per ounce' was just a scary story told to frighten children and bought the UK version as well

Have to say though, I really love it - not that many non Britannia/Lunar £2 one ounce coins out there.
