Very nice indeed ,  @MrStacker👍, ( auction it ) 👍

Haven’t done an auction before. Currently don’t have a coin/bar that I wish to sell but maybe during the run up to Christmas I might do an auction or send the coin to you for you to list….now that would be fun and dangerous.

2022 Silver Proof UK Memorial (Privy) Set

With its customary nod to deflationary price trends, in 2022 Royal Mint produced the final silver proof definitive coins as part of the Memorial Set. The retail price of £475 has offered the expected return on investment to buyers - I bought this flawless set at auction this week for £186 (nett), a drop of over 60% in under two years.

The actual mintage of the collection was 1,310 - the same as this set's CoA number. Although not strictly logical, it would be pleasing to believe that these eight coins are the last ever certified silver proofs of the reign of ERII.

These are the only eight (1p --> £2) decimal definitives ever to have been issued with a privy mark, the 26/22 alluding to the dates of HM's birth and death.

Also included are the CRIII obverse memorial 50p and £5 crown.

As an admirer of our country's definitives, I am happy to add this to my own collection of UK silver proof sets - completing a run that began way back in 1996 with the lurid crimson retro-velvet 25th Decimal Anniversary offering.

I do like these, and you got them at a pretty good price. The 2023 definitives also all had privy marks btw, so they aren't the only ones.

There have also been a few other random decimal definitives with privy marks, such as the 2022 Tooth Fairy 50p with a star privy mark, and the 40th anniversary of the 20p (also 2022 I think). Those were only in cupronickel, but have really gone up in value. How unusual!

Thanks for the correction - I have duly amended my phraseology.

I was totally unaware of the 2022 "40" privy 20p. I believe it was issued only in base metal.

Yes, and you had to buy 3 other crappy circulated coins with it - it came in these sets only, which were limited to a run of 2,022. The actual mintage isn't included in RM's 2022 commemorative coin sales page for some reason.

Thanks! Didn't know this, so just had a wee look at my base metal set and there it is. Another school day for me!

This is why the price of circulating 2023 Atlantic Salmon definitive 50ps has gone so high - there are not that many out there (yet?) and they are the only version that doesn't have a privy mark.
