Here’s a couple from a man named Dan Carr in the US.  He designs and mints his own products- usually in big demand.  I have several of his items.  He has releases throughout the year, all unique and interesting and in gold, silver, and palladium.

Ah brilliant, thank you for that. I've never bought from the RM and know very little about the trial of the pyx! Will need to do some research.....are they normally released at a certain time of year?

Received my first full sovereign in the post this morning. Melbourne mint one but no idea if that's considered a good one or if I should just stick to UK ones?

Also, I had a scare when I flipped it over and the head was upside down. Didn't realise full sovereigns were a different format to halves. 😁

The Australian mints are fine and quite collectible in their own right.  About half of all sovereigns ever produced were minted in Australia because that's where the gold fields were.

Your coin is in reasonable condition (VF or so) with most of the detail still visible in Victoria's hair - sometimes wear will show just above Victoria's ear and on her pony tail.  The hot spots for wear on the reverse are the visor on George's helmet, the reins and the dragon's chest, which show moderate wear.  This is about par for the course on sovs of that era as they were still circulated coinage at that point.

Victorian era sovs were aligned so you flip it over - known as coin alignment, where the reverse is upside down.  Starting with the Jubilee portrait in 1887 they went to medal alignment where the reverse is the same way up as the obverse.

Australian sovs definitely worthy of collecting. 
A must pickup is the Spink book by Marsh. A great read but I can’t be held responsible for the spending it will likely lead to 🤣

Also, if you want to get into sovereigns consider getting these two books as well -

• Spink, Coins of England and the United Kingdom (current edition - they release it annually)
• Allen, Grading British Coins.
