Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Not had any notes for a while.  Just in today a 2g Gold Panda note from the Nanjing Mint.  They do a 4g one which is plain stooopid.  It’s bascially 2x2g together  (like uncut note) to make the 4g.

Is the 888 at the beginning supposed to be a lucky number? I guess the 88800088 would be the one to have

8 is a lucky number.  You will see a lot of Western mintages try and incorporate 8 for a lot of Chinese related coins.

Perth Mint Figure of Eight Coin - 8,888

Royal Mint Lunar Dog Silver Proof - 5008

Royal Mint Lunar Dog Bullion - 138,888

Royal Mint Lunar Sheep Bullion - 188,888

Yes, in Chinese, the number 8 (ba) sounds like fa , which means to prosper or be wealthy.  The number 4 is bad though, as si sounds like the word for death.
