Lovely pictures!

Good little find for $8, I guess the market might be a bit different for U.K coins where you are.

I have picked up silver proof £1's for £10 or so here. So it's not a great deal under what is paid here.

I think the one you have is about 22k mintage. The 1984 of the same design has about 45k. 👍😎

Thanks for the info, now it all makes sense lol.

I had no idea some RM fairly low mintage proofs sell for so low.

Great looking coin, but other than the silhouette on the card, why the name?🤔

cant say for sure, but I assume RCM is trying to  differentiate the series from the countless reiteration of the polar bear coins issued over the years

🤔I suppose ‘great looking seals’ doesn’t sound the same🤔although I suppose there could be a series🤔

Received this morning,

Not the 2017 people would usually go for but a nice low mintage one at 739.  Weird looking at a BU 2017 without the privy mark :)

Unsure if I will keep this or not yet, not my usual thing at all.

Normally I'm a sucker for a good privy mark, but this is equally appealing for not having one. A bit like the "rare" 2023 Atlantic salmon 50ps without a privy mark!

That MS66 must be up there with one of the highest grade for a Gillick. Nice coin

I`m quite happy with the outcome on this one. :)

I think it's quite common to get a bit of strike through on Gillicks, but I do like one with a nice lustre.  One of the nice things about Gillicks is that they are usually in fairly good nick and still have the original lustre. Still, MS-66 is pretty good for a Gillick; IIRC there aren't many at all graded higher than that.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

And more! All made and sold by the Royal Mint a couple of decades ago for £29.95 per cover at the time 😅

Cool, very nice designs.

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

What is going on. It is a polar bear and a cub on the coin, not a pair of seals 🤣

🤔even with my glasses on I wouldn’t be too sure..🤔🤣
