  1. Yep, 21 in the series, that is some serious milking of the purses going on there….and £100,000 to complete will probably end up being greater than that if au rises in spot price….
  2. Too many coins too fast for me… back to the sanity of beaten up old early 20th century bullion sovs…..felt like a port in a rough sea after the last few months of ever increasing series, umissables and speculative fomo. Good luck to all with this series, I hope it treats you well but it is not for me.
  3. For the flipperati, I would advise them to stay away and stick with the Gothic Portrait release. This sotd isn’t for them. Not enough meat on the bone. Leave this one tothe actual collectors.
  4. Got my SOTD locked in a month or so ago via a 3rd party. Cost £30 more than RM price and will still have a stab at another one on release day as this is a classy modern release, not a throwback reproduction (nothing wrong with that btw). Good luck all. Classy purchase imho. Forget the money. This one has actual historical value and is a true collectors’ coin. Nothing more , nothing less imho. This one is not a flash in the pan. This is a moment in actual history. This one is not a pop song, it is a Handel’s Messiah, not a reproduction, an actual original. It might not ignite the youngsters and their flipperati hipster concept of the future but that is what makes it a good buy imho. Historical first, check. Low(ish) mintage, check. Gold, check. Buyers’ hype, check (but not necessary). What’s not to like ? Price of a holiday somewhere….so go buy a tent and look up at the stars this summer with a fire a cheap steak and a bottle or two of wine ?
  5. Exchange men for coins…:) It’s raining men youtube video bythe weathergirls.
  6. Tricky one this one. Most mere mortals and potential bag holders will be wary of over extending. Deep pockets will have no problems. Those inbetween will half arse it and buy the silver version and not be burned too much if it tanks. Me….for all the reasons above and concerns regarding designs and mintage plus endless array of coins longterm in terms of possibilities i.e. dilution and RM proof coin collecting….I’m out. Good luck to everyone. I will take my chances on this one in the secondary proof coin market a year or two down the road maybe. I am just struggling to see the value in this series. I see the cost but not the value. Having said all that, if it goes the way ofthe Queen’s Beasts, then there will be money to be made as long as there are buyers of a limited range of mintage….one thing to its advantage is that so many of us ordinaryfolk are tapped out at point of entry due to a slew of buying these last few months, that those thatdodip in may be in rarified air if the number of coins bought is less than any mintage.
  7. Only the RM can know the answer to that one…..if there are any returns etc….who knows ?
  8. The ground is now nicely frozen across for the tanks and vehicles to move easily……
  9. Protection of Crimea, solidifying its control and including pipelines.
  10. Reckon they will go for the two coin set ala engravers ? Could get very very expensive if they do.
  11. Nope. Didn’t get it as it is not a 1/4oz. The 1/4oz bullion series was a very nice, affordable way to collect the series. No need to get involved with the 1ozers. If they had done. 1/4 oz bullion completer coin, that would have been different…..please tell me they haven’t done one !!!!! 🙃
  12. Each to their own I dont care about labels on holders, personally, but it must be a nightmare for OCDers…..
  13. Things should liven up, if at all (due to a 510 mintage), from early March onwards as apparently the 5ozers are due to be punted out to the buyers from early February…from there maybe some raws get graded and put up for sale early March ? Those who already have them will be keeping them close in the main, to wait for the Portrait 5oz to join up with it.
  14. Crimea and (ahem, cough cough) port access to the Black Sea and beyond….strategic area.
  15. Got the whole 1/4oz Queen’s Beast series in MS70 all bought raw, bar one. These have appreciated very well indeed for a bullion coin. As a complete set of MS70s, they should do even better, I hope.
  16. Let’s hope so…..and I will be watching for 5oz prices areas too.
  17. Very true but it still has nothing to do with the quality of the coin. Ultimately, they are overpaying for a piece of paper.
  18. First releases are a pure gimmick to get more lolly. Buy the coin, not the holder.
  19. Cheers for that. With all the releases over the last couple of months, my cc will be happy for a small rest…
  20. Thesemodern coins are good news for those who have the original coins from way back imo. The RM are now in a position to dilute the modern retro market dry…..and they will…..the engravers series showed them the way…..all depends on mintage if they aren’t to screw the pooch….
  21. No competition from me for this series. Far too many to chase and after the recent platinum and engravers series gorging, have gone back and picked up good old fashioned sovs today before the price jacks up again.
  22. Nice find. So with buyer’s premium, it is already a gnat’s **** under £600
  23. It will be interesting to see where the 2 coin set settles at. Let’s take a low end £400 for a raw. Let’s turn that into a PF70 and add £150. Let’s do something similar for the Portrait but add £100 at the bottom end for a raw one for desirability and need to make a two coin set, so £500 PF70 £650. So for the set at PF70 and lowballing it, we are looking at £1,200. £1,200 - £2,000 range for a pair of PF70s ? Or am I way off on the top and bottom ends of the range ?
