I think ''currently'' there are enough buyers of 10% below face value stamps but yes, you may have to work harder at liquidating any stamps you have back into cash compared to gold certainly.
I wouldn't put big money into this... but was just thinking aloud how to diversify into things other than my gold/silver/crypto stacks.

Stamps from 1911 were still valid for postage until 1972. Though Victorian stamps were invalidated 1924, and Edward VII in 1930 so it's not without precedent that previous monarchs stamps became worthless.
Definitely one of the risks to take into consideration.

Anyone thought about doing or already does this?
Just 7 years ago 10,000 x 1st class stamps would cost £4,600 and today would be worth £8,500.
You can buy stamps legitimately at around 8% below face value, and would probably have to sell them 10-12% below face when liquidating them.
Anyone see any potentilal downsides? Royal Mail are legally oblidged to accept any decimal stamp as payment for postage so NVI stamps  with just 1st class on are always worth face.
The biggest I see is the lack of avenues to sell them, no guarantee Ebay is still allowing small fry to sell on their platform in 10 yrs the way its going. I guess the other is stamps are now less frequently used - instead people are electronically buying postage.

I look for the bargains in the supermarkets.
If favourite shampoo, shower gel, breakfast cereal is on offer that gives excellent returns.
For example my cereal on offer at £2.00 rather than regular price of £3.50 - buy 10 boxes and that gets me £35 worth for £20 a return on investment of 75% !!!!
[ in case of argument the maths used are - invest £20 to acquire assets worth £35. Gain is £15 over £20 hence 75% ]
Works with many items that are regularly used and zero risk.

I have an addiction for scouring ebay junk lots for numismatic bargains and i've noticed a lot of these fakes are making their way into these and bumping up the price realised of those too.

I think the seller listed in bullion catergory, would have been better off lsiting in florins.

If a coin has numismatic appeal, then there is no reason this would decline over time, whether it is due to aesthetic or technical reasons.
That is different from "numismatic premium", which is price or value related, and will also depend on supply and demand.
Of course, sometimes demand will be based on numismatic appeal, which may then affect prices.
My point being that there is a distinct logical difference between the numismatic aspects of a coin and its value.
I believe true collectors do so out of interest rather than value or investment potential.
Market prices are also subject to "fashion", sentiment, hysteria, and any number of illogical factors.
Some of my oldest advice for collectors is to buy what they like and are interested in, rather than as an investment. Their reward or dividend will be the pleasure they get out of it, any financial gain will be a bonus.
As a corollary, investors should buy for sound financial reasons rather than for collector interest.
Of course, there is a middle road, but it is worth being aware of ones own reasons for buying coins.

I haven't bought silver for at least 2 years now as I got deep into crypto (what am I still doing on a silver forum aha!) but even before that i'd switched into gold because of the milk spotting issues. The thought of paying that huge premium for the 1 Kg silver QB completer and losing it all due to spotting a few years later grrrr..
I'm getting the urge to buy again though, I think it would have to be junk silver at spot and below for me now.

Depends on who you sell to,  if its a refinery, or a we buy gold/silver place then you will be lucky to get spot.  You can get the majority of that premium back when re-selling to individuals but in the latter case it is harder to liquidate bigger amounts at once.

Finally picked up the two lovely gold one - ouncers that I bought in the dip a few weeks ago. A 2017 eagle and a 2017 anniversary Britannia. Nice to contrast the colour and the designs, with the US eagle of course being 0.917. Sorry about the poorer photo of the Brit - but I am reluctant to take it out of its capsule. Regarding the designs; while the Eagle is very good (and with a big ounce you can see more of the finer details of the eagles nest and the White House ), it does make me appreciate that the Royal Mint here in the UK is willing to take some risks and plays with new tweaks to the designs on the front and back. Lets face it, we do grumble about the RM and pile into them when they get it spectacularly wrong (eg the 2018 lunar dog) but at least they take the risk. On the US side - i guess it would take another revolution to change the design. Maybe President Trump will order a new design - with the genius himself on both sides!?
Anyway - back to the final gold coin - a cool pickup from a visit to the LCS when in the States, a 1923 Melbourne sovereign for the same premium as any other bullion.  Not in pristine condition, but this was a pretty low mintage by 1920s standards so quite pleased with that.  That one goes into the semi-numismatic pile of sovereigns?.

Also snagged a few of the annual silver 1 ounce designs - but my favourite by far is the Netherlands Lion restrike.  I could only find the bullion version, but i see now what all the fuss is about....and i may need to track down a proof! Some nice 1990 Canadian maples in OMP - i do like the old maples, and these are in great shape. Maybe being in the wrapper prevents spotting ?
