I agree that 0% is the simplest approach, but in reality it makes no difference to what I’m willing to pay. If a 6, 10, 18% commission applies, then I will bid less accordingly. The issue currently is that many starting prices are 10-15% above what the market is willing to pay, so 0% is irrelevant. I understand that this is driven by seller’s expectations, but they seem to expect the market from 3-4 years ago and not the current one.

Also, I have no intention of telling anybody what I intend to bid on. 😁

Exactly this. Several examples recently where I would have bid on Sovereigns or 1/4 Oz gold if the starting price had been £20/£30 lower.

Misunderstanding I think. The reference to pulling out related to buyers disappearing, rather than the Mint.

A bit of both probably, certainly the dullest so far. The last few haven’t been instant sell outs either, so that’s not new.

Never say never with the RM, but I think their credibility would take a huge hit if they cancelled this series. It felt like a flagship series when launched.

Personally I love the series as a collection, irrespective of secondary market performance. Everything except top notch older stuff is in the toilet. This applies to other alternative investments, not just coins. It’s a buyers market in everything. I’ll continue with the 1 oz silver to the bitter end, something to look forward to and keep me committed.

I suspect you’ve misread the intention of that post. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t intended to offend.

The black marks are a consequence of grading. For a period of time a couple of years ago, 2 oz Royal Mint silver coins in particular were coming back from NGC with these marks on them. All concerned parties, NGC and Royal Mint, shrugged their shoulders and washed their hands of it. With help of an intermediary I persuaded NGC to conserve for free one of my coins that had been affected this way. Most of the marks were removed and it magically transformed from a 69 to a 70. 👀

I guarantee eBay will be quicker and you will sell for more (when using selling offers, but you may have to make a few sales without, before you receive these) Always post signed for or Special Delivery with adequate insurance, packaged well / securely, and you won’t have many problems.

I’ve been buying and selling coins as a hobby for 15 years, usually only 5 or 6 items a month. The only platform where you are guaranteed a sale when you need it, at somewhere approaching the going rate, is eBay. I love the forum and am a long standing member, but selling on here (and similar forums / Facebook groups) is increasingly painful. Things will only sell quickly at rock bottom prices and often not at all.

I'm not sure you can quote face value in terms of pounds. 21 x face value is $688, which converts to £532. Probably easier to give wt. in troy oz, when trying to sell in pounds?

I visited the Austrian Mint shop in Vienna a few years ago. Nice to look around but was skint at the time, so nothing for my budget.
