    Point number 1
Orders will need to be placed and funds received by EU Mint at least 5 days before the end of a calendar month.
    Point number 2
Once you have placed an order with the EU mint please get in touch with me directly. I will then issue you an invoice with your 1.2% shipping charge and options for postage.
For obvious reasons we cannot guarantee shipping of your items from EU mint to me unless you have actually paid your 1.2% fee.

We are very happy to announce that we have finally gotten to a place where the European Mint Group Orders are able to move forward!
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY AS THE WORKINGS OF THE "GROUP ORDER" HAVE CHANGED SIGNIFICANTLY
Big changes to the way group orders work
To comply with the new VAT responsibilities facing all things Backyard Bullion we have had to change the way that group orders run.
We hope that what we can offer is still a worthwhile service for some people. That said, we know that these changes will not suit all and we are sorry for that. Please respect our decisions to run things the way they need to run to protect ourselves as a business.
The biggest change is that you will no longer place orders with me (Backyard Bullion). Orders will be placed directly with The European Mint and then "Vaulted" with them. When certain thresholds (mainly weight) are met, parcels will be shipped - or, at the end of each month.
This change does take away one of the benefits of the old orders - having to pay the EU mint directly via IBAN transfer. Doing this is not as difficult as you might expect and we are happy to help and guide people through that process if needed.
Do these changes mean less savings on group orders?
Fundamentally the savings will be the same. The only issue is that of payment directly to the European Mint.
International shipping will still be 1.2% of your order. So for an order of 50 oz of silver you would have been paying €48 to EU Mint directly. With this order you would pay about €9 in international shipping and (with special delivery) £13 for onwards postage, meaning about a £20+ saving overall.
How do you pay the EU Mint directly!?
It is actually not that complicated. I use a transfer service called Transferwise and I would be more than happy to guide you through the process of payment. You can also pay the EU mint via PayPal - although there is a 4% charge for this. You can also pay using your own bank (but my advice would be to avoid this because of the charges and poor exchange rates).
If you want help getting payment to the EU Mint please feel free to get in touch.
    The new order of play....
How the new group orders will work?
This is a general summary of how a group order will work:
    1) You place an order with the European Mint directly.
    2) During the checkout process you will need to apply the following code "BYBGROUPORDER" This code gives you a massive €0.01 discount on your order - but more importantly allows the EU mint to identify group order orders.
    3) Select the "Add orders to storage" option on the shipping section.

    4) Message me here on the forum (or via email to info@backyardbullion.com) with your order summary (ideally a copy of your invoice).
    5) We (Backyard Bullion) then will offer a free service of arranging delivery of your items. We will instruct the courier to pick up your order(s), deliver them to us and we will then distribute like we have with previous group orders.
    6) This service is FREE. This means that I do not have to charge you VAT on the shipping costs. However we will, of course, still have to bill you for shipping. The courier costs from the EU Mint to us will be the same rate as before (1.2% of the order value) and will be passed on to you as a disbursement cost. The UK postage will be the same as previous group orders and I will cover those in more detail later in this thread.
So that is basically how these group orders will run!
    NO MORE WEEKEND ONLY ORDERS!!
One of the perks of this new arrangement is that we are no longer bound by weekend only orders. You can place your orders any time with the EU mint directly.
What can I order and does it include Pre-order items?
You can order anything on the EU Mint website. However, you may notice that the European Mint have a significant number of items that seem "in stock" but are in fact pre-order. These items are usually sourced to order by the EU mint and as such take about 2-3 weeks to arrive with them. So, feel free to order these items but be aware that your entire order cannot be delivered to me and subsequently to you until those orders have been received by the EU Mint.
    Monthly deliveries & weight thresholds
The way we envisage these orders working is that at the end of each month we will have a dispatch of all orders which can be fulfilled. So, if you place an order for pre-order items you may have to wait until the end of the following month for your orders. This could be as much as a 6 week wait. You have been warned.
However, we will also be shipping items that are ready to go if/when certain weight/value thresholds are met. This will allow us to get orders out sooner and not have 60kg+ parcels to process!
So there are no deadlines to order, you can order whenever you want. We (EU Mint) and I will keep you all as updated as possible about estimates for delivery of your order(s)
    General Terms and Conditions
    1) I (Backyard Bullion) cannot take financial responsibility for lost/damaged items that are part of this group order.
    2) You agree that I (Backyard Bullion) will act as an agent on your behalf to arrange and pay for a courier to pick up your orders.
    3) Backyard Bullion can only dispatch your order upon successful delivery from the European Mint and only upon payment of a separate postage invoice.
    4) Any loss or damaged item claims will be initiated and managed by me (Backyard Bullion) and any payouts for claims can only be made upon the successful payout from said claim. Backyard Bullion cannot be held financially responsible for any unsuccessful claims.
    5) You are liable for any and all taxes/import duties that may be applied to your order for your home country of delivery.
    Delivery from me to you
This part is essentially identical to previous group orders.
How do I get my coins from Backyard Bullion?
We will send you an invoice which will include the cost of your share of international postage (1.2% of your orders value) and your options for postage from us to you.
Here is a quick guide as to what the onwards postage costs will be - this is subject to change where appropriate and is meant to give you a guide as to the costs of postage only.

Please note that the maximum that you can send via Royal Mail Special delivery for a decent price is 2kg (about 55 oz).
If you would like to order more than this please get in touch to discuss shipping options.
****Please also note that there is NO PRECIOUS METALS INSURANCE on any royal mail service other than Special Delivery****
What happens in the event of an issue with delivery?
We (Backyard Bullion) cannot be held financially responsible for the loss/damage of any items in this group order. The European Mint has insurance for their parcels but I have never had to put a claim in and I do not know how likely it might be that something is refunded should it go missing in transit. There is an intrinsic risk in ordering from any international company but I am confident that we will be able to resolve anything that might happen. Please bear this in mind before joining the order.
It is important to note the above terms and conditions and re-iterate that joining this order is at YOUR OWN RISK. I cannot be held responsible if items are lost/damaged when arriving from the European Mint.
Should there be any issues I will of course endeavour to work with the dealer to solve them, but I cannot guarantee a resolution.
Delivery from me to you is of a postage method of your choosing. As I have mentioned above there is no precious metals insurance for anything other than Royal Mail Special Delivery. In the event an order is missing or damaged any insurance claims will be made by me (Backyard Bullion) and refunds can only be paid upon successful completion and payout from Royal Mail. In the event that a claim by Royal Mail is denied I cannot be held financially responsible.
OUR SERVICE IS FREE - THIS MEANS NOT VAT!!!
It is important to re-iterate that the service that we (Backyard Bullion) are offering is completely free.
This means we will not have to charge you VAT on your shipping costs.
You are more than welcome to make a community donation at any time if you see fit - just let us know if you want to. Any community donations will go a long way to buying a slap up takeaway for Mrs BYB every month!
However, the best way you can support us would be via our Hand Poured Silver.
We still have 1 oz Silver Forum Bars available!

    Have you got any questions?
If you have any questions or would like any more information then please don't hesitate to ask here or via PM.

Yes I understood the bus advert's point too. Did anyone actually vote to leave because they believed £350m/week would be diverted to the NHS as a referendum pledge? This cross-party ad was giving an example of what to spend the money on, it wasn't a policy in an election manifesto.

If I considered stopping my Sky home subscription bundle to the chagrin of my kids, I'd argue that I could spend that £120/month on things like my kids' sports clubs, but I'm not making a manifesto policy by saying the money will be diverted to that (sorry girls). I could spend some money on their clubs, but I also could spend some on more holidays. The point is we could debate later what to do with that extra money because I would have that money saved to spend on things other than my Sky contract.

Did remainers try to refute this phantom claim at the time of the ad? I say phantom claim because it wasn't meant in the way remainers claim it meant post the referendum.

I regularly put after posts like this a disclaimer of sorts: I didn't vote in the referendum and don't have a horse in this race. I don't feel much sympathy for the post-referendum remainer arguments though.

Its this and feeling like being part of something that was the main attraction for me. Once you are ordering 30 or so ounces and paying for Special Delivery the savings in postage are negligible but what made it fun was seeing the ridiculous amount all together and knowing you were a part of that. It was a really good way to feel a part of the community as well from a newbie perspective. I like many others found the Silver Forum from BYB's videos and joined so that I could be a part of the group order. Knowing I was a part of that really made it easy to feel welcome here.

@BackyardBullion It is very, very decent of you to take the time and trouble to try and find an alternative process so that Group Orders may continue in some sort of revised format.
You're a very busy chap, running your own business, and you have no obligation whatsoever to undertake research for everyone else's benefit - but I am sure that I'm not alone in appreciating the fact that you are doing so

Today I received some silver building blocks from forum member @OlliesSilverBars.
Recently I posted that I had bought some blocks made by Monarch, but was a bit disappointed that they don't interconnect with real Lego bricks. In another thread someone mentioned that Ollie's bricks do, so I bought some to test that out for myself.
As the pictures below show, the bricks arrived nicely packed in little black bags, and are the same size as standard 2x4 Lego bricks. They even have the tubes underneath that give Lego bricks their "clutch power" but on the silver bricks they aren't full size. But they do indeed stack with real Lego bricks so it's possible to make a structure mixing up the silver and actual Lego. Being hollow, the bricks are lighter than the solid 1oz Monarch blocks.
Of course, the presence of such treasure inevitably draws attention from the criminal fraternity, although small-time criminals are likely to make blunders when in pursuit of their nefarious activities that are likely to bring them to the attention of the law. Better hope the king is feeling merciful...

As an American, I really love the QB series for just how seemingly British it is. We see so many coins from the various commonwealth countries with the Queen’s profile on them. To be honest, I’m not even 100% sure why the Queen’s face is still minted on coins from Canada, Australia, etc....With the QBs, it’s refreshing to see such a fitting story between the obverse and reverse of the coin, instead of just some licensed Marvel/Simpsons/Star Wars/whatever.
I have a similar feeling towards the Perth Mint and other mints that do Asia-inspired artwork, or even lunar series. These just seem like a cash grab outside of those mint’s respective cultural wheelhouses. I want a kangaroo on my Austrlia coins, and I want a panda from China. Similarly, if I want an Apollo 11 50th anniversary coin, I only want the one released by the US Mint.
The heraldic design of the Queen’s Beasts series checks off those boxes in a big way for me.

I have been working on building the official model of the iconic Millennium Falcon, a 1:1 replica of the original “Empire Strikes Back” movie prop, for several months and have made some progress...As of late I haven’t gotten much done and I was going to see if this post will keep me honest and make this through completion.
The model is a complete 1:1 scale replica of the Millennium Falcon from The “Empire Strikes Back” produced by DeAgostini models. It is a monthly subscription program, which now you can purchase the complete set at one time.

This build will be a whopping size!
    Length: 808mm
    Width: 596mm
    Height: 192mm
    Weight: Approx. 24 pounds
Along with this build there are aftermarket detail parts that you can buy from the 3D printing source Shapeways, and also photoetched metal parts from Paragraphix.
Thus far I have completed the cockpit section and have a good majority of the main hold built out.

I have some new 3D printed parts for the main hold coming in the end of the month to build out one of the maintenance pits that I cut completely out of the floor base.
Just wanted to have a venue keep me motivated and keeping on track with the build.
I will provide periodic updates with progress. Thank you and hope you find this interesting to follow along!

I think they definitely improved their pre order service, all spot on. However, I am currently experiencing their legendary customer service post order. Be warned, as one could say these are early signs of bankruptcy, where proceeds of new orders are used to fill older liabilities.
    Here's my story
I have received delivery of a pretty large (30k eur) order in mid Jan ths year (2019). 2 1oz platinum coins were missing. That's when my odyssey started, weeks of chasing and still no coins or at least a confirmation of my claim, after 2 months they even stopped replying to my mails.
Very disappointing to say the least, I'll probably have to write this off.. don't get trapped!

Ill look at a silver version depending how this is received.
    But a first look.
    Design Thinking.
We are keeping within UK Law and have made this as far removed from a UK coin as possible we never state these are coins either.
We have took some insparation from Silver Shield and Hobo 50p coins with the reverse and added some time elements as it fits with the chaos that is Brexit.
And were pushing the NHS bus over the Dover Cliffs on the Front.
Probablly the most significant event from the whole sorry saga.
And of course "KEH"  from our favorite spanish waiter.
So there lots of messages in this release and I hope people get it.
