  1. Thank you @HelpingHands 2 oz Gold in the form of 1 oz Gold 1974 Krugerrand and 1 oz Gold 2013 Gold Britannia. Unfortunately the Britannia too good for the melting pot I will most likely buy another Krugerrand.....
  2. Simple sell if you want to accumulate and sell your bullion stack closer to the price of spot then having a membership on the forum is a must. Reduce your spread compared to buying and selling to a dealer. Yesterday I bought 1 oz Gold coin close to spot no dealer in the world I could get that deal from, my yearly membership already paid for itself.
  3. No offence taken as these coins were outside of the realm of what I usually buy I wanted more assurances these were indeed 22ct Gold and you provided that with the sigma test (apologies but I am not familiar with settings on the Sigma tester and took this as 100% authentic). Happy to buy Gold for spot for the purpose of re-using for Jewellery but I was always going to carry out a gravity test at home to verify for myself. The Five Laurels (40g) passed gravity test, the Two Laurels (16g) very close maybe within margin of error but Brexit Coin (8g) was way off. I needed a second opinion that was provided by the pawn broker who had a 1 oz Gold coin on him at the time. After his comments I wanted a refund and to send all the coins back as doubt of the Gold content for the two smaller coins had now entered into my mind. The four bangles that are going to be made with the Gold are going to be passed down to my wife and kept in the family and then eventually passed down to my daughter in law (considering son only 5 years old that is a long time away). I obviously wanted the purity of what I am paying for. I could have made a mistake as I am not use to testing these smaller size coins but I hope you can appreciate once the pawn broker stated the smallest coin was 9ct at this point I wanted a refund and to call the whole deal off.
  4. Thank you Kindly @LawrenceChard really appreciate your input and expertise. I will try my best to answer your questions Did the seller list what the coins were? The seller stated he bought them from a reputable dealer (did not mention who) Is he really a "reputable seller"?, and who says so? Unfair for me to mention any names because I have been fully refunded the purchase price of the coins and they have been returned to the seller. The seller been a member on the forum since March 2021 with over 200 positive feedback. I notice you have not listed them here, and the photos provided are not good enough to be able to easily identify what they are supposed to be. I have posted high resolution photos in the today I have received thread here Do you think the seller actually tested all 3, or just one? Seller tested on three of the coins Did he explain the Sigma reading? Did he miss anything out? No explanation in the Sigma reading but I have seen it being used on YouTube but I have never used the machine before. Do you have a magnifying glass? A "2" or "2.5" eyeglass is more useful than a 10x loupe. Sorry nope all I have is my digital scales, caliper and small rectangular plastic box use for gravity testing been more than sufficient for all the coins bought so far (1 oz QB, Britannias (24ct but 5 of them being 22ct). The pawnbroker did have a eye piece magnifying glass allowed him to see inscription for 9ct gold.
  5. I recently purchased almost 2 oz Gold in the form three coins sold as 22ct from reputable seller on the forum for spot. My intentions take these to India to be melted and to make four bangles for my mum's 70th Birthday and all the coins in my stack pristine condition so I did not fancy putting any of these into the melting pot. As these coins are from a smaller mint I was reluctant to buy but the seller offered to provide sigma tested photos passing 22ct test. Received the coins and performed gravity test the larger laurel coin was within expected range for 22ct but the other two failed the gravity test. I was bit unsure so I took them local pawn broker one of the staff is a member of the forum and fellow stacker who stated after viewing the coins through a magnifying glass inscription on the smallest coin that stated the gold content only 9ct instead of 22ct. Contacted the seller and obtained a refund for all the coins (although I am out of pocket for special delivery postage both ways). Why would Sigma tester come back with results verified 22ct Gold when this not the case?
  6. Yesterday I received these coins sold at spot 22ct Gold unfortunately after a gravity test the smaller two coins failed. Took them pawn broker who confirmed the smallest coin only 9ct Gold with magnifying glass. The seller refunded me and these going back. Always due your own due diligence. I put post a thread on the Gold forum about it due to the seller verifying via Sigma tester.
  7. https://www.atsbullion.com/one-ounce-gold-coins/one-ounce-gold-lion-2016/#.YqD7iPfTUlQ £1876 sold by ATS bullion. BYB recently sold full set 1oz Gold individually on the forum sales on behalf a seller that included 2016 Lion. Have a search on the sales forum because it was priced competitively to sell.

  10. Unsure where I was but I am hoping fully potty trained when John Lennon died.
  11. Similar thoughts but why would you want to buy a bar in the 1st instance being located in the United Kingdom it is not like there is a local coin shop in the majority of large cities/towns we only have at most a dozen reputable trusted dealers in the UK. Had to sell the bar the buyer maybe reluctant as they would need XRF machine to verify authenticity. Most likely have to sell it back to dealer. https://atkinsonsbullion.com/sell-to-us/gold-bars/100-gold-bullion-bar Gold spot £1460.25 100g = 3.215 oz Even bought the bar for 1% over spot in Singpore cost £4741.65 Sold it Atkinsons give you £4,554.12 stand to lose £187.53. Bought 3 oz Gold (1 oz Gold Brittannias) sold it back to the dealer immediately lose £164.76 Done this calculation many years ago when I started investing in Gold for the reasons that the future private buyer would find it easier to authenticate 1 oz Gold issued by the Royal Mint (has no capital gains tax) exclusively only bought these. Post Brexit not ordered anything from outside of the UK but will look at the most competitively priced international bullion dealers and phone around the UK local dealers asking them to price match (larger orders more willing to budge on price). Hope issues gets settled and you able to take delivery of you Gold bar. PS Pre-Brexit when ordered Gold from abroad I often had to fill in Investment Gold Declaration.doc Go back to FedEx with amendment to the attached form that fits your circumstances and state is this sufficient?
  12. Spotted a major blunder by Daily Mail article about this coin saying special piece commissioned worth £15k. Looks like I will be phoning the Royal Mint tomorrow and asking for another special piece to be made. Anyone else fancy buying 1kg Gold for £1k? Anyone at Royal Mint refuses take the order state Daily Mail has the price listed on the article… https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10851343/amp/Royal-Mint-unveils-largest-coin-mark-Platinum-Jubilee.html I think referring to the coin domination value instead price to commission such as piece. But I would sure like to know how much Royal Mint charged this special customer.
  13. Wow this thread has now hit 1200 pages and to think it started off with @Agpanda back in April 1st 2014.
  14. I have had my safety deposit box for over 5 years never had insurance. If you have contents such as Jewellery that you intend to take out and wear on special occasions then specialist insurance for safety deposit box maybe worthwhile.
  15. I am based in Manchester and my advice biased on my location. Safety deposit box I would choose is Saint James Safe deposit (locations Leeds/Manchester) Offer with Saint James safety deposit boxes pay for 4 years in advance and receive the 5th free. Dealer I would choose Chards main office is in Blackpool. I would buy a full tube + plus three additional coins of 2022 Britannia 1 oz Gold Bullion. I would not pay for postage but would arrange for collection from the Dealer when the coins available. Spread right now on 1 oz Gold Britannia 3.75% buying 10+ and Chards buying back 1 oz Gold Britannia's for just under spot but sure they would price match Atkinson needed to sell physical gold all in one transaction. Buy dealer £19,885.58 buy 13 1oz Gold Britannia Sell dealer £19157.32 sell 13 1oz Gold Britannia Before buy anything always investigate how much money would I lose if I needed to immediately liquidate my position. Obviously 3.75% spread could be reduced if both buying and selling was done on the Silver Forum / Facebook Groups but this would entail a slower accumulation time but the benefits would be building up reliable reputation that would be required when you need to sell the physical Gold and want to obtain better than dealer buy back prices. I would not buy bars. It may also be bit more fun to buy from private sellers (obviously you will have to do your own due-diligence) and could turn into a hobby. Also I want to mention if you are buying full tube 1 oz Gold coins then look for the cheapest price Coininvest at the time of writing and phone your local UK dealer and ask them to price match.
  16. Only if you have good insight into what could be a good flip/long term hold otherwise if you are stacking for weight best to stick to bullion grade gold as close to spot as possible.

  18. Don't want to buy Buffaloes in the UK way overpriced. If you already down under have you tried Bullion Now (based in Sydney) received a large shipment recently included Gold Buffaloes may have all been sold by now.....
  19. Sorry maybe bit off topic BREAKING: Russia Makes Case For GOLD...But Nobody Noticed GoldSilver (w/ Mike Maloney) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFTc5mBGJWY
  20. Old photo of mine but some of the Britannia Designs that I have managed to collect over the years. Shame I never managed to complete the collection by adding 2001 1 oz Gold Coin Britannia Bullion 2007 1 oz Gold Coin Britannia Bullion It still remains my favourite design 2010 1 oz Gold Coin Britannia Bullion
  21. Same goes for Petrol pay at the pump. Price of Crude oil goes up and seems like automatically goes up the next day in petrol stations but when crude oil crashed to below $0 barrel I did not see any petrol stations saying selling it for zero.......
  22. Ending the week just shy of $2000......
  23. My experience in selling Gold/Silver in general need as many eyes balls as possible utilise the forums Facebook groups & eBay (seller reputation plays a role). As for selling proofs I have avoided buying proof Gold coins always sceptical recovering the premiums. Sometimes it has meant I missed out on some amazing premium growth for example on the Great Engravers Collection but overall severed me well to stick with bullion as close to spot as possible. I remember years ago I wanted to buy from US dealer some proof 1 oz Gold Buffalo coins sold same price as regular Buffalo's thinking some poor buyer lost the premiums in these coins sold by the mint it was a shame I was short of funds at the time these would have made an excellent addition to the stack..... Luckily never had to resort selling to a dealer this should be your last option.
