I think mine started when I was a child too, my grandparents had been to visit my grandads sisters family in Perth, Australia in the late 80’s.
My grandad brought back a sizeable rock which is gleaming on about 10%/20% of the surface with gold. As a child I was always fascinated in rocks, fossils and crystals, my bedroom was full of them.
Every time we went to see them I’d ask to see this gold glinting rock. He told me he found it whilst out on a walk over there down by a river in perth, so he picked it up and brought it home. 
A few years before he passed away and just as I was leaving after visiting them he handed it to me and said “Here you have this, you were always fascinated by it as a child” and I still have it to this day. 
Now, how do I know it’s not got a big nugget of Australian gold in the middle? I don’t. 🤔
But it would take me until 2018 until I bought any sovereigns.
Now, where did I put that rock....

Nothing remarkable about these to many people, just personal to me and kids, as they were presents from their grandfather when we visited the Guernsey Mint.
Might be wrong but I believe they are Victor Hugo “doubles”. Wasn’t many years after the return from this trip, he left us but this visit stuck with them as they remember the gift, Bruce giving them a tour and letting them have a gold bar to hold, insisting they had their photos taken in his showroom.
So although they had birth coins and date runs (I’m now motivated to complete), this in their minds will be what they remember as the start of their stacking experience. For that reason alone, these two gifts will always be the most precious and priceless.

Don’t forget that the more gold you can buy in one go you’ll pay on average less for the gold content. 
For example you’ll pay less in terms of gold for a full sovereign than you will for a half sovereign or even 1 gram.
Just a tip but maybe some months save and buy as much as you can afford. But with the gold price the way it is maybe that’s not good advice anymore in these times. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Back on track I think @dicker prediction might be right of £1,500 by Christmas if it rises and keeps correcting itself to a new ‘norm’. Time will tell, indeed.

I think everyone or almost everyone is thinking the same, how high can it go?
Recently the price of gold seems to go up, correct itself a little and then a day or two later it’s reaching a new high. It should be interesting to see over the next few months.
Either that all we’ll all be crying into our pillows by Christmas 😆 and wishing we’d sold it all but I doubt that.

I have been to university and they certainly don’t teach you about gold, silver or any other precious metals. 😂

Dicker please don’t be offended as I didn’t mean no offence , obviously no one knows what the  future has to offer especially when it comes to the market, economy and precious Metals, we all have made so many  wrong predictions in the past .
it’s just insane to me how fast the price of gold is moving upwards, I’m a young investor, I’m 30 and have been investing in precious metals for over two years now, it blows my mind to see Upward movements like this in gold and I’m so happy that I have a good stack of gold now that the spot price is looking sexy .
just like you I love this forum too, it’s an amazing community, I’m a busy man with my business and don’t have social media accounts because I don’t have the time for it and I also believe it’s not good for my mental health but I love this forum, it’s a place of knowledge to me, I come here to educate myself as I have not been to university.

Or next week, whichever comes sooner...lol.
