So, due to this thread I decided to buy an LMU coin instead of a full sovereign as my next coin.
My first 20 franc came in yesterday (well the day before but it was given to a neighbour?!) - I know it's the least rare and a re-strike and i'm ok with that as my first She still has some shine to her and there's good depth on the lettering still.
What a lovely example of the Swiss 20 Franc coin!
There's something about this particular coin that I just absolutely love

Thank you @SILVERFINGER - I've absolutely no idea if I paid over the top for it, but it was only £7 and I'm a happy bunny
Looking at the photo, it is quite an eclectic mix that I picked up at the weekend - but that's a big part of the fun and enjoyment in collecting PMs and coins, I feel

If truth be told, I didn't receive these today - I picked up three of them at the Coin Fare in London on Saturday, and the other arrived in the post whilst I was up in The Big Smoke:
Many thanks to @5huggy for the Geiger 1oz bar - I've had one of these on my "must get list" for a few months now
Chards were selling the 2020 Kangeroos off for £20 at the show, and with no P&P to pay I wasn't going home without one
The 1970 is only Nickel-Brass - but I have always loved the design, and to see such a nice example was just too tempting
The 2002 Shieldback Half Sovereign is again one of those coins that has been on my radar for a little while; it's still in a sealed plastic packaging, the price was VERY good, and so it didn't take much to persuade me to press the button

Don’t like the look of it, did you get from a trusted source?
Yes, from a seller that I have done business with several times before.....
I do appreciate you raising your concerns though - very good of you to let me have your thoughts; the coin has been cleaned at some stage, and combined with a couple of mediocre iPhone photos it probably doesn't look that great.

Continuing my "small is beautiful" (as well as being very affordable 😉) policy when it comes to acquiring more gold, I was pleased when the postman knocked the door this morning with a 1912 Half Sovereign that I did a deal on a few days ago for £135.
Its definitely passed through quite a few hands over the last 100 years or so, as can be seen when examined under a loop - but for the money, I'm very happy to be able to add it to my stack 😎

It's hardly the "steal of the Century", but I'm pleased to have added this afternoon another half sovereign to my ever-growing modest stack - especially as I paid just £135 + £3 P&P for a 1912 coin in pretty reasonable condition

When the dealer says bellow spot it's the fact one sovereign has increased by around £70 during the last few weeks.
I know chard have some good near spot deals but again the spot is high so it,s not a good barometer to judge the value.
I'm very bullish about gold in the long term, so paying a higher price than I was a few months back is not something that I'm uncomfortable with; providing I'm paying spot or below, I'm buying as much as I can at the moment
-
H&B are selling the 2019 Sovereign at £289....
eBay has yielded some below-spot bargains for me (all due caution needs to be exercised, of course!)....
and a local antique shop hadn't been keeping an eye on the gold price over the last few weeks

My Gold finger is becoming itchy, when is spot coming down.
I've been picking up quite a few Sovereigns and Half Sovereigns recently - if you have the time and inclination to do a bit of legwork and digging, there are a few decent "below spot" opportunities around.

It looks as though Silver, Gold and Platinum are all enjoying "a good day out" this afternoon, following on from the above news......

@S2G My apologies for the delay in coming back to you on this - the dreaded "day job" has been getting in the way a lot these last few hours!
I've tried 3 or 4 times since this morning on my Windows laptop to view the site, but on each occasion I keep getting the same message as in the screenshot above to say that the data is loading. I've waited up to 10 minutes, but the screen remains in its "loading mode"
I am however able to view it on my iPad; have a look at the screen shot of what I see on my iPad and you'll see I've popped in a few red arrows where it would be really, really handy to put in line breaks (so as to separate the data of each bullion dealer, as at the moment it appears as a continual list of unbroken lines of information)
Hope this helps to clarify what I was hoping you might be able to do, in order to make the site a little bit easier to read
-
Here's a screenshot that I took just now - though at the moment the data isn't loading (it might be that you're doing some work on it at the moment??)

I increased the gap between each row slightly, hope it helps.
It certainly does @S2G - might it also be possible to put a larger gap between the "View" line and the price of the next most expensive supplier? At the moment, the information for each dealer is not clearly seperated from the info of the next one.
-
@S2G Please don't forget the line-breaks!

You could offer dealers space to put a deal of the day/week on the page.
Brilliant suggestion!
1/10 Britannia or Half Sovereign
in Gold

Half Sovs almost every time for me - the premiums are lower, and if you are prepared to put the time and effort in you can pick up some at VERY keen prices.
I've got a few 1/10 Britannias, but they are more of a "personal indulgence", rather than an investment......
