I never got calls from them but did get flooded with the postal ‘offers’ at least two a week despite ticking the no marketing preference on the website. Called and emailed asking them to stop, they even tracked me when I moved house and started sending junk there! Only a final written gdpr letter got them to stop. I agree with Roy it’s not worth it for £11. The junk mail wouldn’t be half as bad if it didn’t basically advertise what you’d been buying

I feel extremely fortunate to have been Graced the opportunity to acquire this wonderful and iconic Sovereign.
Thank you @SilverMike, @Elements & @Roy for the advice, help and support in making the investment.

Elements got a reaction from SilverMike in Grading is it becoming irrelevant?
Trading and buying off the internet is where the value of grading comes into it for me. You know from a grade it’s of a certain standard. I’m mainly a collector of older coins, those that have photographed coins themselves know it’s easy to make a good coin look bad or vice versa depending on the angle and lighting. Cleaning lines can be hard to see on many online photos unless they are harsh, having it hand and rotate it against a fixed light source is ideal but not feasible on the internet. Buying graded you typically know what you’re getting

    £2000 profit.
    That is all.
Everyone who bought one from the mint will sell it and everyone who bought one on the secondary market will lose their shirt.
Ash will be knocking them out for £300 sold as bullion next year

I have quite an interesting half sovereign that I picked up on the forum a while back. An 1877-M wide ribbon half sovereign (S-3863), part of a mintage of 80,000 but only thought 20,000 ever minted of the wide ribbon. Only about 50-60 examples still exist (apparently). Its completely battered so not worth more than BV unfortunately but I'll see if I can find you some photos.

Sovereigns are my favourite gold coin to collect and I wonder how many others have a rare or highly collectible sovereign.
I’ll start by sharing the most rare sovereign in my collection, this 1930 Melbourne mint with a mintage of just 77,588 is now difficult to find.
Do you have a rare or unique sovereign? If so please share.

Deep or ultra cameo are rare designations for the 1911 proof half. This is a 65DCAM

Firstly, i've shed a fair bit of Gold weight lately to make way for a very special purchase and I would like to extend thanks to all the forum members who purchased coins from me to make it possible.  You know who you are, and it was very much appreciated 😀
And secondly, and once again, thank you very much for all the effort, time and patience! That @SilverMike, @Roy & @Elements provided, in terms of helping to guide me into making this fantastic acquisition 👍😃
So, what exactly is in the box? 🤷‍♂️

    It needs no introductions...

And maybe, just maybe that 5 Pound is Ultra Cameo?  The Obverse certainly meets the criteria! 😉

I wasn’t quite sure where to go next after my initial foray into historic sets and to follow on from my purchase of the 1902 Edward VII Matte Proof Set.
Decided on this beautifully preserved 1911 George V Proof Coronation Set- a tiny 952 10 Coin ‘short’ sets were issued.

Once again, thank you to @Elements @Roy & @SilverMike who helped me decide 😀

This scenario reminded me when I owned an old Alfa Romeo 147- I joined a couple of enthusiast forums and the Official Alfa Romeo site, that ran monthly competitions.
I entered the competitions every month, and one month, the prize was a brand spanking new Alfa 4c- google it, what a machine.
Anyway, a week or two later I received a telephone call.  The lady introduced herself, and excitedly told me I had won a prize in the competition- whilst she broke the news, in my mind I was peeling on a pair of kid leather black drivers gloves, popping an overnight bag into the boot and imagining taking my wife for a weekend away to celebrate, the gravel on the Country Hotel drive was scattering under those wide rims, and the engine purring to a halt...then she announced what I had won...the third prize, spending a day with the British Olympic Team GB Gymnastics Team, an opportunity to meet them and watching them train!

Imagine my disappointment- fat chance of even a hearty boozy lunch in that company- although I accepted the prize gracefully, thinking someone I know might like such a prize- not a taker!
Out of courtesy I rang the lady back and told her I couldn’t attend and perhaps she might be able to find someone who could- oh boy, she went the extra mile to try and find an alternative date that I could attend, and kept calling me back to rearrange- in the end, I blocked her number and came off the Alfa Owners site 😂
