  1. Yes I've done that but only when I either trust the seller, generally from a few other purchases and/or they will provide a proof of posting on demand, and I've chosen to only pay for a second class stamp etc. My choice to save £5 - 6 on RMSD costs on the basis of a risk:reward decision based on countless previous RM deliveries. My limit for this is usually a half sovereign but with the price of gold these days I may revise downwards. In the past I have done so up to a full sovereign. "What a wonderfully innocent world they must live in" Lol I wish it were true😀
  2. The general look of it feels wrong to me and the CC seems too large and thick in profile. These letters are a common source of error in Carson City fakes IIRC.
  3. A couple of prominent omissions in the Melbourne series: 1880M and 1883M both R2 @Orpster
  4. Oh dear, that is so bad, there is no chance it ever went through the PCGS, must be a fake slab.
  5. I trust she got a nice bonus from the boss?😁
  6. If I understand you correctly you are saying that because the A in Victoria has a pronounced bar and because the two As in GRACIA are noticeably less so then they must be unbarred? If so then you don't understand how these faint/missing bars can come about. Regarding the die crack. There seems to be just the one going from the edge of the coin through the top of the A and then out of the bottom of the descending arm. You can only see the parts outside of the A as the descending slope covers up that part. It is almost impossible to have 3 separate die cracks so close together without them merging into one entity during the extreme pressures of the strike.
  7. I have to agree with Clive, definitely a faint bar. The crack seems to track down the descending side of the A and keeps away from the bar. Just IMO😀
  8. Good work Dave, I'm surprised you did so well, it looked pretty grim before.
  9. There'll be more than a few here who remember around £700 in mid-2015 during the life of this forum. Is it really 8 years? It only seems like yesterday, but still, it's a decent enough time and will be before the majority here started stacking. No idea where I'm going with this but it's nice to reminisce and £175 sovereigns has a lot to recommend it. 😁
  10. not special enough 😁birthdays are naff, potentially too many of them, and also nothing to do with coronation. doesn't justify a crown IMHO
  11. perfectly true, but previous kings didn't have the present RM dealing with issues😁
  12. but there won't be any "special" occasions that come anywhere close to the coronation for a long time yet. I am talking jubilees, anything else is naff.
  13. I accept I may be assuming too much but I think the indications were there at the start that he was not keen on a crowned portrait and kings don't generally have one. Maybe he/they have changed their mind?
  14. The most remarkable news of today is Chards giving Free Postage on these coins! Looks like the nagging of @LawrenceChard by a few on here has paid dividends. Although their normal discount seems to have suffered a little😉
  15. It is the coronation year sovereign and the only one to feature Charles with a crown.
  16. Was straight in a 9am and out two minutes later with a 5 coin having paid by credit card! I thought I'd give this means of payment a go for a change. Absolutely amazing. Either they have sorted their payment system out or nobody buying!
  17. I did eventually put together a set of these probably just for the sake of it. IMO the quality of these is very poor, even the designs on the reverses don't do it for me and I just can't look at the obverses, the bust of the Queen is appalling. They may be an iconic set to some old timers on here but in my eyes they are just bullion, to rank alongside the Birds of Prey series, people just don't want them. Sorry Pete.
  18. something wrong with the system. Got in quicklyfrom 41k position and nothing sold out yet!
  19. I don't see what difference it would make, unless you can somehow transfer the ownership to yourself and not charge VAT when you come to sell. Otherwise you pay VAT back to the Gov when you sell and still make the same % profit as you would have if you'd paid VAT as a private individual. eg Price paid £120 claim £20 vat back net price paid £100 (equates to buying and selling at a reference price + VAT, in this case £100) Sell at £240 pay £40 vat to HM Revenue net price received £200 (reference price increases 100% to £200) Silver price increase 100% you make 100% profit whichever way you do it. Or am I being too simplistic, I am not an accountant?
  20. I was watching this at the end just for interest and looking at a clock as well, this bid was well placed in the last few seconds. Seems we have an expert in last second sniping, skills honed on ebay?😁
