    Hello fellow SilverForum members.
I have just uploaded a new video to my YouTube channel showing the 1917 Canadian sovereign. Just picked this up on Australain eBay. My second Canadian sovereign, it looks like I am now collecting them!
Here is the link to my channel. I hope you enjoy.

QV's 200th birthday is (imho) a worthy occasion for a SotD. I'll definitely try to get one, even though a proof finish would be nicer.

Going to be tough @Gildeon as like you say most are proofs.
I took a chance on a lucky dip double last year from HGM and got lucky with a 1990 G&D. Cost £486 delivered. 6.5% premium.

If you do find a dealer selling random choice double sovereigns you could just be sent one of the modern £2 gold coins.
So it's best to check if youre expecting a George & The Dragon.

So, this week I have been subtly sharing some black and white photos of a very pretty bar. That is because the colour is not your usual white metal!
Courtesy of @Lr103 I have been experimenting with pouring gold!
A video of the whole experience will be out tomorrow and I will share it with you all here.
Here is the very first attempt....

Not so good, so I chopped it up and tried again!
And here is the bar fresh from the furnace....

My leaf stamp compliments the ripples perfectly!
    2.24 oz of 999+ gold!
We have sent it up to the Edinburgh Assay Office for hallmarking (likely done by laser!)

And here is a companion bar made to be the same size....but because it is silver it is about half the weight!

Thank you to @Lr103 for putting your faith (and money!) in my skills, I am truly humbled!
I also have the gold pouring bug....so watch this space.....
If only gold wasn't so damn expensive!

Punctuating your sentences properly instead of stringing your entire post in one long sentence would also help other people in understanding you better.

xthomasx reacted to Zhorro in Underweight gold sovereigns
In March 2019’s Coin News there is an article “The Sovereigns of Queen Victoria from 1846 to 1849” (pp.40-41) in which Clive King reports (p.40):
“...a large number of the 4.5 million sovereigns struck for 1847 were actually well under the legal tender weight.  Many weighed as little as 7.92g and would certainly have been deemed illegal tender under the Coinage Act of 1816-1870.  It’s amazing to think that if 25 per cent of the sovereigns struck for this year were 0.06g too light, that it would have left around 70kg of gold in the cupboard.”
As this is not mentioned in Marsh, I thought it was worth highlighting.

I went to Costa Rica last month, one of the areas we were staying in was famous for gold mining.  Large scale gold mining is banned in Costa Rica but panning in the rivers is still allowed for the locals.  The rivers are full of fine gold.  I went out a couple of times for a few hours with the father of the hotel owners we stayed at.  He had been mining gold in Dos Brazos for 50 years, it was amazing watching him pan.
Here is a video I made of the gold panning.  I didn't take as many shots as I would've liked as I was too busy enjoying being 5ft deep in water shovelling rocks to get to pay dirt.
I also bought some gold from local miners for £28 a gram, I would’ve emptied my bank account if there was a cash machine but we were in a small village in the middle of no where.
