1  x  2019 United Kingdom Falcon of the Plantagenets Quarter Ounce Gold . from  Harrington and Byrne .

Back after our winter vacation and with some new items (can't be avoided, can it...?). 😀
Few days in Rome and purchase of three 1967 uncirculated sets from Italy, Vatican and Switzerland.
And then 10 days around Israel, ending up with some interesting medals ( I will let you guess the year!) , three large bronze and two silver. The silver ones will find their way to @Numistackerin the near future. 
Just when returned to Ireland the Dublin coin show was on. Among some other (mostly bullion) stuff I got, I also discovered a series of first day envelopes from Tonga, Japan and Ireland, which I picked up on the spot.

Just bought a few things at action, one of them being a 2016 Gibraltar Sovereign, not seen it before, though like the look of the old florin. :
 

Purchased at LCS.  2006 20th Anniversary ASE set with 2006-W burnshed and proof and 2006-S reverse proof.

1st coin of a new serie (from Mint of Poland) called Ancient Chinese Warriors : Zhao Yun  2oz 
Very high premium as all coins coming from Mint of Poland, but highly desirable with a mintage of 500 and moreover, a coin mainly destined for the Chinese market. According to Powercoin, only 2 european dealer have a total allocation of 20 coins each for all Europe.
I have been lucky to get it from Powercoin at the first price
 


Also got last week the 3rd coin from Gods serie : Hephaestus
Highly sought after. The coin was at 310€ at the beginning, then 450€ less than one hour later and now at 600€, and 700 euros on ebay

A couple of pickups from my local coin shop

My 2019 Brilliant Uncirculated Matt Finish sovereign arrived today.
The pictures of both coins on the Royal Mint’s web site are shown in a weird colour which almost defies description but which bears no relation to the colour of gold, hence the reason I was keen to do an actual comparison with the proof 2019 sovereign that I already had.
The most immediate thing one notices is the packaging.  The “matt finish” sovereign comes in a basic cardboard box whereas the proof sovereign was in one of the prestigious wooden boxes.  Also the coin capsule with the “matt finish” sovereign seems to be smaller!
I do think that “Brilliant Uncirculated” and “Matt Finish” are contradictions in terms!  Surely something is either “brilliant” or “matt”, so can it really be both? 
To me, the new sovereign does not look to be very “Matt”.  It is certainly has a different finish to both the proof and regular bullion sovereigns, but I am not sure I would call it “Matt”.

Yes another one from the same die which is why I posted, I'm sure you wasn't a non-believer?
You can see all the same traits including the tooling marks under her chin.
I have a number of new varieties that I've confirmed by having multiples of now 😋

I was just thinking that you did have an unusual letter before. Was it the same coin/could you post both next to each other?

1871 Sydney Shield - Strange R in GRATIA and F/E in DEF
I discovered this variety last year and have just found another this morning to confirm there are more out there, it's a nice error considering so few exist within the Sydney shield series

Now that my French Napoleon typeset is nearly complete I have started to return to my other Napoleonic sets - Italy, Holland, Westphalia and Spain. Although these are a long way from completion I managed to get a 5 lira for a good price

Today my quad metal Britannia arrived from @SilverStan and yesterday 2x Trafalgar Square silver coins arrived from @arshimo2012. Also got a 1902 half sovereign from my local bullion dealer in town.
I'm well impressed with the quad metal coin and although I've slated the London landmark coins before, this design (Trafalgar Square) once in the hand isn't too bad as the detail is better under the light compared to looking at a picture of one.
