One of the big reasons I prefer buying from the dealers.  I have never gotten a bad coin from a dealer.

I don't foresee the 2 oz. silvers selling out unless it gets close and the dealers buy it out.
I made a big mistake with this.  I anticipated that the queue would be overrun, and these would sell out very quickly.  I also thought that the mintage would be lower than it is.  So, to save myself some stress, I bought it from a dealer when sales opened at a little higher price.  Lesson learned for the future!

For example, I cancelled the RM order, as some of the EU dealers started selling 2oz silver sets, and for me it would be the same price, even a little less than receiving it directly from the RM, due to customs service charge avoided and less shipping cost. As well, I hope that dealers, unlike the RM, look at coins they receive from the RM before sending them to final customers, so the risk to get bad quality coins is less. One my friend also cancelled the similar order.

The available quantity of the 2 oz. silver set keeps growing.  It's now up to 714.

Last year, here in the U.S., ModernCointMart/GovMint produced a modern take on St. George.  Legal tender of the Ascension Island and designed/engraved by three modern masters.  Available in gold and silver.

Of course, the cost of these coins will be much more than the value of the metal.  There are fixed costs, variable costs of this issue, a built in profit, etc.    It costs a lot to produce the coins.  In addition to costs for designing and engraving the coins, there are the supplies (cases, capsules, etc), marketing/advertising costs, administrative costs and salaries, etc.  if I like the coin and can afford the cost, I buy it.  Then again, I’m a collector and not a flipper.  I have never sold a coin, so I don’t view them as a quick profit.

Here you go mate. It’s not the best but it’s something.
Indeed the relief looks rather good, and if it weren’t for the premium price tag due to the hype of the series, they’d be nice coins to have in larger denominations.

My opinion, it'll be a release where the design will put people off, on eye appeal alone, the coin will be judged and overlooked. Giving little importance to the history of the original so they'll pass on this release only to end up I believe in regretting not purchasing. Late bloomer ( only an opinion ) time will tell. Wouldn't rule it out yet

I am fascinated by how this release has gone. The comments here and on Facebook both seemed to indicate it wasn't going to be as popular a release as previous ones in the series but I didn't imagine we'd get into the evening and still have sets available to purchase. I certainly agree with other comments that the per oz price is rather bonkers regardless of what size or metal you're looking at. I wonder if thats them thinking they can milk people for more because its a Great Engravers release or because the edge lettering incurred more work/costs. Either way I wonder what effect this lacklustre launch will have on any further coins in the series. Time will tell.
I'm glad it was easy to get the 2oz silver set and be able to keep the collection to date complete. I just hope they've done a good job with the minting of these as it will be super disapointing (especially given the price) to have to deal with any minting issues.

Being from the U.S. and a collector of U.S. Mint issues, I guess I am used to coins selling out extremely quickly.  Collectors and flippers here are quite rabid.  We have had mintages of 25K to 50K (and more) sell out in minutes.  Before the Mint set up things to slow down the bots, the website was overrun and customers could not get through.  It was a nightmare.

I changed my mind and decided to go for the 2 oz. silver set.  The uniqueness of the raised letters on the edges intrigued me.  Plus, the design does look good, and I like the unique capsules.

I don’t mind that it looks modern. All the other ones in this series do. I don’t want to buy a replica, I want to buy a modern interpretation. Isn’t that the point of the series?

I'm a nervous wreck!  I can't sleep, can't eat, and I am barely surviving on tranquilizers.  I may not make it until tomorrow.  If I do, there's a good chance I will simply collapse and miss the whole thing.  First, Charles I and now this in the same week.  My life is being shortened with each release of the Royal Mint!  😭

I also had a call from my RM account manager a little earlier and they said that they had seen the coin and it looks fantastic! I said to her that she should be in sales! 🤣
She was unable to tell me anything about the mintages or in fact anything at all other than what we know already. She has asked me what I would like to order and I have said that I definitely want the 2oz silver set and possibly the 5oz silver set.
I said to her that it is so hard deciding as I don’t know the mintages and I haven’t seen photos of the actual RM design. She said that it will sell out within minutes and I needed to let her know today.

She  wasn’t even allowed to let me know the pricing. I find it so strange that they want you to commit to buying but without you knowing how much you are spending. It is like writing a blank cheque!
Also, they now take the money straight away for all purchases even though the coins aren’t available yet. Not a bad business model, especially with rising interest rates!
I have a strange feeling that this one could be a long term winner. If the mintages are lower and it is only purchased by true collectors then there won’t be many available to buy on the secondary market which will drive up prices. Saying that I am not brave enough to buy the gold 2oz set! 🤣 I don’t have that sort of money to risk at the moment especially when like others I only really like the design of only one of the two coins.
