Turned down buying silver today, thought I’d reflect on what I’ve got instead.

You might well find that coins on the forum are better value. Really you need a premium membership to see the coins as soon as they are posted for sale. So really you need to be buying a decent amount to make it worthwhile. In general buying sovereigns in the UK is the safest bet - as long as you don't buy on ebay. There are so many con merchants on there - maybe even people who are innocently selling fake coins. Stick to reputable dealers like Chards / Atkinsons or fellow members of the forum.

They tend to be used in gashes in my experience.

    On the contrary...
Silver when submerged in water does not inflate.
A lady nappy kinda does inflate in water😁
So whatever the question was, tampax wins.

The question was about the price of silver vs inflation, not about Tampax and Always.
Go to the naughty page, mate!😁

At least it is probably genuine copper.
The yellow stuff in the bags is not gold leaf!

Hello everyone, have a modest stack since starting four years ago and I’m hoping as relative youngster to gain some wisdom from more seasoned stackers on the forum. Currently mulling over selling all my silver and only stacking gold.

The Great Gold Britannia Charity Coin £75,000 Give-Away
About two weeks ago, we were contacted by a local charity who had been left 20 x one ounce gold Britannias, by an anonymous donor.
There was concern on both sides about the state of mind of the donor, who had left them at a reception desk, then disappeared.
A day or so later, there was a different local charity experienced a similar event.
There have now been at least 4 mystery charity gift donations that we are aware of, involving about 50 coins.
Some clues have come to light, which I think includes at least one hand written note.
@ChardsCoinandBullionDealer have identified the potential donor, and everything seems to be in order.
As it it clear that the donor wishes to remain anonymous, we have and will be respecting that wish.
I have seen news reports over many years about "mystery donor drops Krugerrand into Salvation Army kettle", which have often been widely reported in national or international media, but this is the largest such case we have heard of.
Currently, I only have partial information, and I don't know how many more "drops" our mystery donor will be making, but it's a heart-warming story.

I have taken it upon myself to provide a few words of caution to new members:
Be wary of people welcoming you aboard, as a lot of TSF members have boating accidents.

Depends on price paid.. silver is silver and if you got them cheap, keep!
If you paid the going rate £23 per oz or more the stick them in a separate pile and keep until they appear cheap for the next buyer ( likely someone looking to melt them)
Don't store naked with other clean silver items, no matter what you decide.
Finally, they can be cleaned at-home, check YouTube for baking soda videos or even silver polish ( ⚠️ ⚠️ never try cleaning a numismatic coin/proof etc)

I think it's because the lynx is a rarer coin now, plus the lynx had a mintage of 12000 the Toro has 15000. I didn't buy mine from emk though, got mine from the European mint

Hi @jackflash123 I've orded from emk coins before, and if ordering gold there is nothing to pay other then international shipping fees, if ordering silver, the carrier (FedEx/UPS) will contact you with a VAT bill that you have to pay before they will deliver your items.
As regards the pre-order, I pre-ordered mine last week on the 20th, which was the original release date, I paid 216 euros for the 1/10 lynx coin, the price now is a bit higher, but I've paid for the item at the pre-order price, so sometimes you win and the price goes up after, sometimes you lose and the price goes down and you end up over paying. But once you pay, that is the final price.
So if you buy the bull coin now at the pre sale price, that is the final price you will end up paying.
As regards stock levels, you know as much as me, as I say original release date was last week, now it's been put back till the 27th, so I guess it will be put back another week, so you could wait a while until it's available for delivery 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yep, it does say dispatch date is 10-14 after they get the coin.
If you click on the menu button, there are coins listed under pre sale, some have the ability to be bought now, and some don't. The bull and both sizes for the lynx can be bought now
