1919-L London Mint Fake Gold Sovereign - Non Existent Date Mintmark Combination
I recently posted a new topic / thread about a genuine 1919-P sovereign 
which had some interesting features.
Yesterday I encountered a 1919-L fake sovereign, which was easy to detect visually as an obvious counterfeit.

Obverse:

Niton test results:

The obverse reading for gold was too low at 90.2%, but the reverse was too high at 93.2%
The differential between the two readings is itself significant, as it suggests imperfect mixing of the alloy, which would almost certainly never happen with genuine coins.
The silver content was also suspiciously low, as most sovereigns of this period would have about 0.3% to 0.4% silver content.

2022 Bullion Double Ronseal   This attractive example arrived today, courtesy of@ChardsCoinandBullionDealer. "Minty +" grade.   Tidy coin but unsurprisingly, imo, it pales in comparison to the proof sovs and 2015 au £1 coins. One for the stack. @trp   With a premium lower than that of any other dealers on single sovs this was a straightforward decision given the paucity of offer on TSF at the time.   The process from@LawrenceChard& co. was straightforward, efficient, polite and swift. Thoroughly professional - a company I would be happy to recommend.   Addendum: Free postage would have been nice..

Shame they didn't complete their order, those bars are sweet. I got both of mine last week and they arrived in really plush velvet bag with sturdy outer boxes, and with COA's confirming bar numbers and mintage amounts.

Mine made it to customs in Chicago.  Now it will sit there and bounce around for a week or two.  Hate the mail, but I can't wait to get these bars.
