5 gm gold bar

Not sure why you would exclude Perth Mint, if its because there are fakes around there are also fake pamps and a few others known too.

I would just buy whatever is closest to spot as you wont really get a premium back on a bar.

I like the Heraeus or UBS Kinebar. The first one is quite cheap on coininvest. As always with blistered bars, on eBay there will be quite a few fake.

I would never buy gold from eBay unless from someone I know leaning towards Scottsdale certilock

We have some really nice pre-owned 5 gram Heraeus/ Austrian mint Gold Kinebars in at the moment.

Definitely worth a look as the hologram is quite unique.

How do you authenticate/verify these? There isn't a serial number and it's in a sealed pack.

Are there specific dimensions to measure or cut it out and acid test?

Don't acid test, just cut the packaging off it and use an electronic tester.

Electronic gold testers don't cost too much, some of them you can plug into your phone now I believe.  If you are going to take punts on eBay or buy scrap gold and such they will pay themselves back in no time.

Cheers @KDave.

I was just thinking that this bar must have been bought and sold and resold solely on trust?

I bought it from a pawn shop and never thought it may have been fake.
