EU / Canada Trade Deal

Apparently, one of the results of this deal is the elimination of customs charges on 98% of all goods traded.

Could this mean that we could source VAT free silver from Canada? At least until the UK potentially leaves the EU customs union.

VAT isn't a customs charge, it's a sales tax.

Goods coming into the UK and EU are subject to both VAT and customs charges. VAT is generally constant but the latter vary quite a bit and do not apply to everyting.

I suspected I was misreading something!
