Gods/Goddesses 2 oz antique "series"

Recommended Posts

I'm interested in the finish of the Hera Goddess and the other Gods series of coins.

Has anyone got one of these where the high points of the coin is showing shiny silver through the antique finish, looking as though it's been rubbed off?

My Hera coin is like this and it's a question of whether this is a product of the manufacturing process or subsequent "rub"

Thanks for any info..

I have already showed this, but am posting here so other members can also see. :) This video is uploaded by Perth Mint. It clearly shows sand paper being used to rub the coins after the antiquing process has happened.

The antiquing is a chemical reaction, it is not a paint. So it won't rub off the metal, it instead needs to be sanded down to remove.

But I understand your concerns and hopefully other members who have this coin can also confirm how theirs looks. But please also note that Perth Mint put a card in each box saying something like 'as this is a hand finished product each one can vary'. If you check your card you will see.
