Royal Mint Bullion

Still more expensive than Bullion Store or Atkinsons for a single sovereign. I'd expect nothing less as RM have been getting away with outrageous prices for years. So when this venture fails, rather than admit they are uncompetitive on price, they'll announce that the British aren't interested in investment bullion or some such crap.

Well, if you've found a bargain, whatever else I can say about the Royal Mint, they are probably on the more trustworthy end of dealer reputations. Have only bought from the main site before (£20 for £20, I'm not into commemoratives, etc) but if they use the same distribution then should be fine.

Pleasantly surprised to see RM pricing anything reasonably actually. Very pleased to see the return of the 1/2oz gold britannia, which is one of my favourites. The 1/4oz would be the smallest I'd get. Still over-priced compared to metal value but that's always going to be the case with coins.

What a stupid site. Markets are currently closed so you would think that the prices are correct. I send a payment which gets processed and allocated within 30 mins. I go to checkout with the item and right at the end it says it's going to update with live pricing and it then increases by 12p. I sent the exact amount since I thought the price would have been live and fixed so now I'm short and have to send more. No doubt it won't be until tomorrow when it gets allocated and if spot goes up, then I'm short again. I could send extra but I'll have nothing else to buy until the next Lunar release.

Not a great system for the odd buy here and there but wouldn't be an issue for regular buyers/investors.

Only bought a couple of sovereigns from them. Like more zone find the payment system naff. You have to have funds transferred and allocated to RM account before you can lock in a price and then complete the purchase.

The prices are more expensive than the main bullion guys. I remember when I made my purchase around October last year, some of the fractional Britannia were actually coming in cheaper by weight than the ounce coin.

I think I will be going to Baird or elsewhere when purchasing the gold sheep.
