Hi all, just a little bit about me. I’m 38 and have been in the British military for 19. My travels around the world have ignited my interest in old items from different regions. Starting off with pocket watches, I found myself looking up silversmiths, hallmarks etc more often. My reasons for joining this forum is to Hopefully get a steer in the right direction when researching items. I’ve found it hard to get to what I’m after from simple google searches. I’m currently in the Middle East and have seen some really attractive silverware, I just don’t have the knowledge or experience to pick out the gems from the rubble.

Thanks again and I look forward to reading through the current threads, and hopefully get some valuable info on some items that interest me.

Hi and welcome. If it's mainly old silverware/hall marked stuffed you may find other places more knowledgeable. @HighlandTiger Posted links to a few sites a while back if you can do search. For other things bull ion, coin and bars, this is the place to be.

Hi Stu, yes I had noticed that. Thanks for the links, I’m more interested in the collectors items while I’m away. I like the idea of bullion though. There has to be another financial crisis at some point. Commodities, particularly precious metals seem to fly when when conventional businesses fails.

Thanks again,

Chris
