1/10 or Half's?

Hi Guys.

 

I've just started getting into precious metals - 1st silver bullion order turns up next week and have ordered some bits through the April group buy!

 

Although I will primarily be stacking Silver I will diversify a little with gold.

 

Can I ask if there is a general preference to buying either 1/10th Britannia's or Half Sovs?

Any reasons to be looking at one over the other?

 

As you can see I am not on a huge monthly budget for PM allocation, but excited to be part of the community.

Half-sovs generally have a lower premium than the 1/10 Brits.

1/10's purely on the look but if there's a chance you might need to turn stack back to cash quick sovs are defo your choice

Half sovs tend to be more liquid, although I personally like the 1/10s brits. So I mix it up and only buy them when the premium is low enough.

As others have said half sovs, however I did buy a 1/10oz Brit last month, very nice design however such a tiny coin. If nothing else half's look like you have something in your hand.

Resounding support for the half sovs! Liquidity is definately important. Don't plan on selling soon, but it will be a stack that's dipped into occasionally.

Another vote for half sovereigns, liquid, good variety of historical ones available. I'd avoid the recent ones because they look like pennies

If you get both why not get a 1/4 24K queens beast.  Personally I'm not a fan of 22K gold which is why I won't buy a sovereign, kruger etc.
